Pedestrians previously had to cross both Wilton Place and Ridgewood Place when crossing east or westbound, but now can stop on the median. Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, 4th District, said the project will be a significant improvement for the Wilton Place Historic District. The project was made possible through a collabora- tion between the Community Redevelopment Agency, Los Angeles (CRA/LA) and the Ridgewood-Wilton Neighborhood Association. “We all came together, and the city and the creative forces in this neighborhood have made a difference,” LaBonge said. “This is a traf- fic calming program, but it is also the type of improvement that real- ly enhances the neighborhood.” WeHo City Councilmember Opposes Bills on Abortion

est Hollywood Mayor John WHeilman and Councilmember Abbe Land intro- duced a motion at the city council meeting Tuesday to hold a teen summit in West Hollywood every two years, starting in 2012. “I think it’s important for us to hear from our teenage population,” Land said. “It’s important to hear what they like about the city and get their input.” The summit will aim to engage teens to get involved in the plan- ning process of local parks and also help members of the city council determine if there is a need for new public policy to serve the needs of the teenage population in West Hollywood. The city held the previous teen summit in January 2010, which was called the “Teen Shout-Out,” at Plummer Park. There were more than 50 teens who participated in the summit and featured activities that promoted team building, lead- ership development and a question and answer session with members of the city council. Heilman said the input from the teens was very valuable. They had ideas on how to improve Plummer Park, including moving the basketball court closer to the teen center. Heilman added that the teens also had many ideas for new programs to be offered at the park during the summer that would encourage teens to socialize, such as competitive sporting events. “We got some really good input from these kids,” Heilman said. “It also gives us an opportunity to get ideas from young people in the community and to get them See Teen page 21
