Our full list of items is available here. If you would like to place an order, please e-mail: [email protected]

Please note that we need 24 hours' notice for the hampers, ice packs and logs; 48 hours' notice for the flowers; and a week's notice for the chocolates (as these are made by hand). Payments can be made online or by card on arrival. All prices are inclusive of 5% VAT, where necessary.

LOG BURNERS Please take care at all times when using the log burning stove inside your yurt. Do not light anything other than firelighters and logs in the yurt. Please do not use coal – the stoves are not designed for it.

All yurts are fitted with carbon monoxide and smoke alarms. If the alarm sounds, evacuate the yurt and contact Tim or the Farm Shop.

Fire extinguishers are located near the entrance of the wood.

LOGS/FIRELIGHTERS/CHARCOAL Each yurt is provided with a complimentary basket of logs and firelighters. Additional bags of logs can be purchased from Tim (phone number below). Logs are charged at £8.50 per bag (if ordered in advance) or £10 on site.

www.wensleydale-experience.com [email protected] Tim - 07769 341955

CLEANLINESS Please try to keep the yurt and facilities clean and tidy at all times. We would be extremely grateful if you could wash all pots before departure and dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided.

All our yurts are rigorously deep cleaned using chlorine-based cleaning products in line with government guidelines around COVID19, and paying particular attention to high-traffic touch points. Each yurt is equipped with hand sanitiser dispensers plus our amazing local, organic Friendlÿ soaps, so you can keep washing your hands in style. LOSS AND DAMAGES Please be respectful to all equipment. Loss and damage due to mistreatment of any equipment will be chargeable.

NOISE AND NUISANCE Please respect other guests and keep any noise to a minimum. Music can be played providing it’s not too loud and does not disturb fellow guests. After 10pm, please ensure music is turned off.

We will not tolerate unreasonable behaviour; all guests are here to relax and enjoy their break away.

LAUNDRY All bedding and towels are provided. The double bed will be made up on arrival. Additional sheets, duvets (with covers) and pillows (with pillowcases) will be provided in the yurt for those staying on the futons. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we would ask that when you leave, you please strip your bedding (pillow covers, duvet covers & bottom sheet, but leaving the protectors on) and place these, along with your towels and any other linens, into the blue linen bag provided. Stripping and interacting with used linens are major COVID19 risk factors for cleaning staff, so our cleaning staff can't enter yurts that haven't been stripped in this way. Please help us to keep our cleaning staff safe!

AN ECO-FRIENDLY STAY We are striving to be a super eco-friendly business. During your stay in our yurts, you can expect to find:

● A yurt site where more than 250 new trees have been planted. ● Fully solar-powered lighting in all indoor and outdoor spaces. ● Lovely, local vegan and cruelty-free Friendlÿ soaps made in nearby Hebden Bridge that contain no palm oil, parabens, sulphates, triclosan or phthalates, all presented in recycled and recyclable packaging. ● Add-on boxes of local, handmade chocolates made by Mocha of Richmond presented in plastic-free packaging. www.wensleydale-experience.com [email protected] Tim - 07769 341955

● Organic, sustainable fabrics for the branded clothing worn by our team. ● A zero waste-to-landfill site.

We are always eager to hear any new ideas about how we can improve our eco-friendly credentials. Please e-mail Stephanie at: [email protected]. DARK SKIES-FRIENDLY

We are working on becoming a fully accredited Dark Skies-Friendly business, an initiative that is run by the Dales National Park Authority. We have taken several steps to make sure that our yurt site is well positioned for any guests who would like to stargaze during their stay:

● our interior and exterior yurt spaces are exclusively powered by low-lumen solar lighting ● we have worked with our on-site partners, Fairhurst's at Berry's café and The Healing Collective, to minimise any exterior security night lighting and to reposition existing security night lighting to reduce light pollution ● we have adapted some of our torches to have a normal light and a red light setting to reduce immediate light pollution ● we have easy out-of-hours access to our yurt site for guests who are returning late after an evening of stargazing; we do ask that guests try and be as respectful as possible to others staying on site if they do return late ● guests can request a late-check out for a small fee; late checkouts can often be accommodated ● we have reclining deckchairs available on request for any guests that would like to stargaze from their yurt deck ● we can arrange for a picnic box to be delivered to your yurt to take away on your stargazing adventure or eat on your return ● Dark-Skies-friendly events are hosted regularly by the National Park - more information can be found here. FAIRHURST'S AT BERRY'S FARM SHOP AND CAFE

HOW THINGS WORK

IN CASE OF FIRE OR EMERGENCIES: Call our site manager, Tim, on 07769 341955 or 999 if it's an emergency.

WOOD BURNING STOVE The logs need to be cut to size using the axe provided. Place the logs on the large chopping log (located outside the yurt) to make some small kindling. We would recommend that you always wear your protective gloves and goggles when doing this.

Using the matches and firelighters provided, light the firelighter in the main stove opening and feed in the kindling, keeping it as tightly packed as possible. The fire may smoke slightly but as the fire gets hotter the smoke will lessen.

DO NOT leave the fire open when unattended.

SHOWER There is a switch under the shower and also on the shower head - ensure these are both switched on.

To ensure the pressure is sufficient, hold the shower head down. Turn on the water tap and the shower should start up. It is important to get the water pressure at the right level. Due to a fairly weak water pressure, the shower may not work as well if other showers, toilets or the hot tub are being used at the same time.

If the shower is not working, check the gas tap is turned to ‘open’ on the gas bottle, which is located at the rear of the shower unit.

HOT TUB ------DO NOT LIGHT A FIRE IF THE HOT TUB IS NOT FULL WITH WATER ------

It is essential that the water level is above the metal sign ('water up to this point') before lighting a fire.

Please ensure you shower before and after using the hot tub.

Lighting a fire:

1. Remove the metal lid and place several logs at the bottom of the stove under the chimney (to the right-hand side of the stove).

2. Light a firelighter and place it on top of the logs.

www.wensleydale-experience.com [email protected] Tim - 07769 341955

3. Place more logs and kindling on top of the firelighter, keeping the wood tightly packed.

4. Ensure the lid on the stove is open by approximately 1-2 inches.

With the cover on the hot tub, it will take approximately 3-4 hours for the water to get to a warm temperature.

There are additional instructions for the hot tub located in Appendix 1 of this document.

ON THE FARM

TIGER AND TRAFFIC Our Kune kune pigs (pronounced Cooney Coon) are siblings, born in December 2011, and are much loved by all at The Wensleydale Experience. The breed originates in New Zealand and the word 'Kune Kune' means 'round and fat' in Mauri.

DORIS Doris is our famous pygmy goat; she is small but very feisty. She can be very naughty but often comes out to accompany the farm tours with her kid, Gav.

ELSPETH Elspeth is our Manx Loaghtan Sheep, one of the oldest and most striking breeds of sheep in the UK. Elspeth is very friendly and well behaved.

ROLO Rolo is our Mini Shetland Pony; he is very good-natured and loves to eat carrots. He enjoys being brushed on farm tours, and gives the occasional pony ride.

www.wensleydale-experience.com [email protected] Tim - 07769 341955

HARRY Harry is our pet ‘lamb’, although he is now larger than Rolo the Shetland pony! He was born in 2014 and is a Texel cross. He can be seen wearing a head collar and sometimes pulls a cart.

THE HIGHLAND COWS Our Highland Cows. They can often be seen on our farm experiences, or ask our helpful staff where to find them.

THE SUCKLER HERD These are our South Devon Cattle. They can be found on our grassy fields where they like to graze with their calves.

FLOPSEY Flopsey is a Lion Lop rabbit, who is extremely fluffy and full of mischief. He likes carrots and cabbage, and being gently stroked.

Appendix 1 To ensure the safe and enjoyable use of the hot tub, please read and adhere to the following user instructions and safety rules: Hot Tub User Instructions:

DO NOT LIGHT THE LOG BURNING STOVE unless the hot tub is filled with water to above the burner box inside the hot tub (just below the burner guard top rail).

1. Shower with soap and water before using the hot tub to remove lotions, deodorants, creams etc.

2. Add sufficient logs to create a fire in the lower half of the burner (for Oak and Rowan, be careful you don’t fill it too full as logs can roll out when you next open the door). Slide the lid open by approximately 2 to 3 cm and allow air to fuel the fire. Do not overfill the burner with logs. Only burn dry logs, no other fuel may be used.

3. For fastest heating, keep the covers on and stir frequently. As the water temperature is rising and nears 35°C, you can reduce the number of logs being added to the burner. This process will take a couple of hours or so.

4. Take care when entering and leaving the hot tub, the surface will be slippery especially when wet. Place both hands on the top rim when using the steps as these may also be slippery and unstable. Hot Tub Safety Rules:

1. It is advised that you should not stay in the hot tub for longer than 15 minutes per 1 hour.

2. People with heart disease, high or low blood pressure, any serious illness or who are pregnant should not use the hot tub without consulting their doctor first.

3. People with skin, ear, genital or other body infections should not use the hot tub to avoid spreading infection.

4. It is advised that children under the age of four should not use the hot tubs. Never allow children to use the hot tub unsupervised.

5. Please be aware that the heat of the water can speed up the effects of alcohol. Do not use the hot tub under the influence of alcohol.

6. Do not immerse your head in the water as it increases the risk of infection (and you could drown).

7. Do not use electrical appliances near the water to avoid electric shocks.

www.wensleydale-experience.com [email protected] Tim - 07769 341955

8. Do not use any contaminants such as bubble bath, oils etc. in the water as they will affect the life of the timber.

9. The burner is protected by a guard and you should not make any attempt to touch the burner whilst lit.

10. Never allow the water temperature to go over 40 degrees Celsius (lower for children).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not empty the hot tub whilst the burner is lit. Failure to do this will result in the stove being damaged beyond repair and a replacement cost of approximately £5,000 payable.
