It has been led by the EPA, with input from Local Authorities and other public bodies, and with support from RPS consultants. The characterisation assessments are automatically generated from the information stored in the WFD Application. They are based on information available to the end of 2015 but may be subject to change until the final 2018-21 river basin management plan is published. Users should ensure that they have the most up to date information by downloading the latest assessment before use. 2 Evaluation of PrioritySubcatchment Issues One out of six river water bodies within this subcatchment is AT RISK, Failmore_010 due to failing to meet its High Ecological Status objective (i.e. biological status driven by invertebrates). Two out of four lake water bodies are AT RISK due to also failing to meet their High Ecological Status objectives, Maumwee due to fish status and Loughanillaun Maam Cross due to chlorophyll and phytoplankton. Two other lake water bodies are under REVIEW due to their unassigned status. The significant pressures within Failmore_010 are likely to be a combination of localised peat cutting, overgrazing and accelerated erosion due both topography and intense rainfall events within the river water body. The latter pressure may also be impacting Maumwee and Loughanillaun Maam Cross. Investigative assessments are required for the unassigned water bodies to determine whether any issue exist.
