A London tour by bus The morning part 07:30 am to 11:00 am by: Luisa W. (6D) Tourstart at Green Park time: 07:30 am ● we started at Wellington Arch ● it is a nice and sunny day ● Green Park is one of three Royal Parks ● Green Park is 19 hectare big ● from the south end of the park Buckingham Palace is seen First sight: Buckingham Palace time: 09:00 am ● the bus is very convenient ● unfortunately we missed the changing of the Royal Guard ● ofcial residence of the British monarchy since 1837 ● the palace is the residence of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip ● state receptions are also held in it ● is home to the Queen's Gallery, the Queen's collection of paintings ● can only be visited from the inside twice a year Second sight I: “Big Ben” time: 09:45 am ● the bus stops on the hard shoulder on Westminster Bridge - very comfortable to take good pictures ● unfortunately the tower is closed due to construction work ● the name Big Ben stands for "big Benjamin" and actually refers only to the largest and heaviest of the five bells located in the tower ● since 2012, it has ofcially been called Elizabeth Tower, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II ● formerly a prison for members of parliament Second sight II: Palace of Westminster time: 09:45 am ● three towers: the world-famous Clock Tower Big Ben, the 99-metre-high Victoria Tower and the Jewel Tower ● over the centuries, Westminster Hall served as a place for court hearings for the citizens and for coronation banquets and as a place of burial for a monarch ● until 1512, the Palace of Westminster was also the seat of the Royal Family ● the British Parliament has met on this site for over 900 years Third sight: “London Eye” time: 11:00 am ● on 10 October 1999 the ferris wheel was completely erected, due to technical problems the opening was delayed until 09 March 2000 ● originally, the London Eye was only supposed to remain standing for 5 years ● at 135 metres high, it is the largest Ferris wheel in Europe - and the fourth largest in the world ● one ride takes 30 minutes and you have a 360° view A London tour by bus The noon/afternoon part from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm by Jakob Madame Tussauds time: 11:45 Madame Tussauds is a museum with famous wax people, for a example: Marvel heros or royal people. The wax figures looks very real. Madame Tussauds is in London, Berlin, Hamburg, Wien, New York, Paris, Singapur, Hong Kong and Amsterdam. Madame Tussauds was built in 1884. Madame Tussauds burned down in 1925 and the most wax figures were broken. Hyde Park time: 1:15 pm Hyde Park is a Park in London and perfect for a picnic Hyde Park is next to Buckingham Palace Hyde Park is one of the biggest park in the World The Monument time: 2:00 pm The Monument burned in 1666.
