LAST GAME - Oct. 18 (Colorado 5 at Florida 4 in OT) Nathan MacKinnon scored at 3:03 of overtime to give the Avalanche a 5-4, come-from-behind win over the Panthers at BB&T Center. Andre Burakovsky (2g/1a) and Joonas Donskoi (1g/2a) each tied career highs with three points as the Avs overcame deficits of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3. Philipp Grubauer made 40 saves to extend Colorado's season-opening point streak to seven games. • MacKinnon's OT winner was the seventh of his regular-season career, tying Joe Sakic for the second-highest total in franchise history behind only Milan Hejduk (9). • Ian Cole was a career-best +4 • Burakovsky tied his career high in goals (2) and points (3) • Donskoi tied his career high in points (3) and assists (2) • The Avalanche killed all four Panthers power plays and have gone five straight games without allowing a power-play goal (14 straight kills since Oct. 5). • MacKinnon extended his season-opening point streak to seven games

TONIGHT The Avalanche continues their season-long, six-game road trip tonight in Tampa against the Lightning. This is the second half of a back-to-back for the Avs, who beat the Panthers 5-4 in overtime last night. The Avs are 2-0-1 so far on this trip, beating Washington 6- 3 on Monday, falling 3-2 to Pittsburgh in overtime on Wednesday and beating the Panthers last night. This trip concludes with stops in St. Louis and Vegas, although the team will return home for a few days before going to Vegas. The Avs this season will have three road trips of five or more games for just the second time in franchise history (also 1999-00). The Avalanche went 4-0 on their season- opening, four-game homestand, the club's longest home stay to begin a season in franchise history.

GET TO THE POINT Colorado is the only NHL team without a regulation loss this season, picking up a point in all seven games (6-0-1). This seven-game point streak equals the second-longest to open a season in franchise history.

Overall, it marked the fourth time that the Avalanche/Nordiques won their first five games of a season.

BACK-TO-BACK The Avs are playing their first of 12 back-to-back games, as they take on the Lightning tonight after beating the Panthers 5-4 in OT last night. Colorado played 11 back-to-backs last season, going 5-3-3 in both the first game and the second.

HIGH FIVE Cale Makar saw his season-opening five-game point streak snapped on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. He was the first defenseman in franchise history and just the fifth defender in NHL history to open his career with a five-game point streak. In fact, Makar's five-game streak ended up tied for the second-longest by a blueliner to begin a career in NHL history. Furthermore, Makar also equaled the Avalanche record (since 1995-96) for the longest streak to start a career at any position, a mark Alex Tanguay set to begin his career in 1999-00. Makar, who joined the Avs during their first round series against Calgary last spring, was the first defenseman in league history to score a goal while making his NHL debut in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

He won his first four starts this year, the longest win streak by an Avalanche goaltender to begin a season since 2013- 14 (J.S. Giguere 7-0-0, Semyon Varlamov 5-0-0). Grubi owns a .921 career save percentage, the fifth highest all-time among goaltenders who have appeared in at least 100 games since shots became official in 1955-56. EAST SIDE STORY Tonight ends a stretch of four straight and five-of-six against Eastern Conference opponents. The Avs are 3-0-1 against the East.

THREE'S COMPANY Colorado has scored at least three goals in six of its seven games this season and rank second in the NHL in goals-per-game at 4.14. The Avs scored three or more goals in each of their first five games, the first team in Avalanche history (since 1995-96) to open a season by scoring at least three goals in each of their first five contests. The Avalanche scored four or more goals in each of their first three games, which was also an Avalanche first. Colorado finished 10th in scoring last season with 258 goals, the club's highest total since 2006-07 (267).

MAKING EACH PERIOD COUNT The Avs have scored at least one goal in 16 of their 21 regulation periods (18 of 24 if you include overtime). Colorado scored in each of its first nine periods this season, becoming the first Avalanche team to ever do that to open a campaign. Prior to relocating, the Nordiques scored in their first nine periods twice: 1982-83 (also nine) and 1992-93 (first 18).

HOME COOKING Colorado is 4-0 at Pepsi Center this year and has won 10 straight regular-season home games dating back to last year, matching the franchise record for the longest home winning streak including multiple seasons. The Avs are 15-2-1 in their last 18 regular-season contests on home ice. If you include the club's 4-1 home record during the playoffs, the Avs are 14-1-0 in their last 15 games at Pepsi Center and 19-3-1 in their last 23. • The last time Colorado won its first four home games to start a season was in 2009-10 (6-0-0). • This marks the fourth time that Colorado/Quebec has ever won 10 consecutive home games and the first time over multiple seasons. The Avs won 10 straight at Pepsi Center in 2017-18 and the Nordiques won 10 straight at Le Colisee twice: 1994-95 and 1983-84. • The Avalanche's 4-0-0 season-opening homestand marked the first time they've swept a homestand of at least four games since Dec. 17-23, 2011 (4-0-0).

FIRST FOR FRANKIE Pavel Francouz stopped 34-of-36 shots to pick up the win in his first career NHL start on Oct. 12 against Arizona. Francouz became the first Avalanche goaltender to earn the victory in first career start since Vitaly Kolesnik on Dec. 7, 2005 vs. Boston. In fact, Peter Budaj (Oct. 8, 2005 at Dallas) and David Aebischer (Oct. 18, 2000 at Columbus) are the only others to win their first NHL starts since the franchise relocated from Quebec. Francouz joined Sergei Mylnikov (31 years, 162 days on March 17, 1990) as the second goaltender in Avalanche/Nordiques history to record his first win at age 29 or older.

O' CAPTAIN Gabriel Landeskog, who was named captain on Sept. 4, 2012, is in his eighth season in that role. Landeskog was the youngest captain in NHL history when he assumed the job at 19 years, 286 days, a title he held for four years before Connor McDavid surpassed him on Oct. 5, 2016 (19 years, 266 days). Only six active captains have worn the "C" for a longer period of time.

Zdeno Chara (BOS) 14th season (since 2006-07) Sidney Crosby (PIT) 13th (2007-08) Jonathan Toews (CHI) 12th (2008-09) Mikko Koivu (MIN) 11th (2009-10) *does not include season as rotating captain in 2008-09. Alex Ovechkin (WSH) 11th (2009-10) Ryan Getzlaf (ANA) 10th (2010-11) Gabriel Landeskog (COL) 8th (2012-13) Claude Giroux (PHI) 8th (2012-13)

LEAGUE OF NATIONS Nine different countries were represented on the Avalanche's Opening Night roster: Canada, USA, Russia, Finland and Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, France and Sweden. Columbus (also nine) was the only other team to feature players from nine different countries to begin the season.
