TEAM STATS TEAM NOTES Tonight was the 100th regular season meeting between the Avalanche and the Sharks. Colorado is 50-38- Avalanche 12 all-time against San Jose and 2-0-0 so far this season. The clubs will meet six more times in 2020-21.

Shots: 38 The Avs held San Jose scoreless on four power-play opportunities and has now killed 17 straight penalties. Colorado’s kill is 28-for-31 (90.3%) this season, ranking third in the league. The Avalanche has not Power Play: 1-4 allowed a power-play on home ice this season (15-for-15), one of three teams in the NHL that hasn’t surrendered a power-play goal at home. The Islanders (4-for-4) and Carolina Hurricanes (3-for-3) Penalty Kill: 4-4 are the other two.

Faceoffs: 55% Colorado went 1-for-4 on the power play and has scored a league-leading 12 goals with the man advantage this season. San Jose INDIVIDUAL NOTES Shots: 21 Philipp Grubauer recorded his second of the season, matching his total from the 2019-20 campaign and one shy of his career best (3x - 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19). He leads the NHL with five Power Play: 0-4 wins and his two shutouts are tied for first. Grubauer has seven shutouts as a member of the Avalanche, moving into a tie with Craig Anderson for fifth Penalty Kill: 3-4 place on the franchise’s all-time shutouts list.

Faceoffs: 45% Nazem Kadri factored into all three of Colorado’s goals (2g/1a), his three points the most he’s recorded in a game since Jan. 20, 2020 vs. Detroit. Kadri’s first tally stood as the game-winner, the 23rd game-winning marker of his career.

Nathan MacKinnon registered a shot on goal for the 228th consecutive game, breaking Joe Sakic’s franchise record for consecutive regular-season games with a shot. Sakic’s run of 227 straight contests with a shot went from Nov. 17, 1995 to Jan. 12, 1999. MacKinnon’s streak began on Oct. 14, 2017 at Dallas and is the longest current run in the NHL.

Brandon Saad finished with two points (0g/2a), his second straight multi-point game. It’s the first time Saad has recorded multiple points in consecutive contests since Dec. 12-14, 2018.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar picked up his 150th NHL coaching victory.
