TONIGHT'S GAME The Capitals face the Vegas Golden Knights at Capital One Arena on Saturday in Game 3 of the 2018 Final. The Capitals won Game 2, 3- 2, on May 30 and the series is tied 1-1.

NOTE OF THE NIGHT Holtbeast – Braden Holtby has posted a 13-7-0 record with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 20 games this postseason. His 13 wins set the Capitals' franchise record for most in a postseason, surpassing Olie Kolzig (1998: 12 wins). In his playoff career, Holtby has posted a record of 42-37 with six (tied with Kolzig for the franchise record), a 2.04 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage in a franchise- record 79 playoff games. The Lloydminster, , native ranks second in NHL playoff history (min. 50 games played) in career save percentage and second in career goals-against average. Holtby has allowed two goals or fewer in 50 of his 79 career playoff games and Washington has posted a 36-14 record in those games.

TOP FIVE CAPS FACTS The Great Eight – Alex Ovechkin scored his 13th goal of the postseason in Game 2 and is now one goal shy of the franchise record for most goals in the postseason set by John Druce, when he scored 14 goals in 15 games in 1990. In addition, Ovechkin has registered 24 points (13g, 11a) in 21 games and is one point shy of Evgeny Kuznetsov's current mark this postseason (Kuznetsov: 11g, 14a), which is the all-time franchise mark for points in a postseason. Ovechkin, who is fourth among active players with 59 career playoff goals, is tied with Stan Mikita and Paul Coffey for 34th in NHL history. Additionally, Ovechkin is tied for fourth among active NHL players (min. 20 games played) in career playoff goals per game (0.50) and tied for sixth in playoff points per game (0.97). Among the top 10 active career playoff goal scorers, Ovechkin ranks fourth, and his 0.50 goals per game ranks first among players on that list. In 118 career playoff games, Ovechkin has 114 points (59g, 55a) and ranks first in franchise history in playoff games played, goals, points, power play goals (20), power play points (49), game-winning goals (8), shots (532) and second in assists. Ovechkin aims to become the third player in NHL history to score 600 career regular-season goals before winning his first Stanley Cup (Luc Robitaille: 620 goals before 2002 Cup; Dave Andreychuk 634 goals before 2004 Cup). Additionally, Ovechkin can become the 16th player in NHL history to play at least 1,000 career regular- season games before winning his first Cup and the second to do so with the team for which he has played at least 1,000 games ( with Detroit). He also seeks to become the ninth player to have 1,000 career points before capturing his first Cup. If the Capitals win the series and capture the Stanley Cup, Ovechkin (Moscow, ) would become the first Russian player to a Stanley Cup champion.

Leave it to Larry - Lars Eller recorded three points (1g, 2a) in the Capitals' Game 2 win over the Golden Knights. During Nicklas Backstrom's four game absence in the Eastern Conference semifinal and Final, Eller recorded five points (2g, 3a). That marked Orpik's first goal since Feb. 26, 2016, ending a goalless drought that spanned 220 regular season and playoff games (181 regular season games, 39 playoff games), which was the longest active goalless streak in the NHL. During that same span, Orpik ranks third among all NHL defensemen in hits (595) and sixth in blocked shots (446). Orpik's goal marked his third career game-winning goal in 1,128 career regular season/playoff games and his second career playoff game-winning goal (May 11, 2013 versus Islanders).
