Executive Principal: Ruth Robinson Headteacher: Nick Wells Nova Hreod Academy Akers Way, Swindon Wiltshire SN2 2NQ 01793 528800 19 th March 2021 [email protected] www.novahreodacademy.org.uk Dear Parents and Carers Student home testing I hope your children are enjoying the routine of being back in school. It certainly has been lovely to have classrooms filled with students again. After their third school Covid test on Monday 22nd March, your son/daughter will be given two home test kits to bring home. Each pack contains 3 tests. Advice from the government is that the leaflet in the box is out of date and students/parents should refer to the blue leaflet handed out separately to students. Please supervise your children when they take the test. They will need to swab their throat and their nose, which is different to the swabbing in school, which has been nasal swabbing only. Going forward we will continue with the mass testing in school on a Monday whilst school is in session and your son/daughter must test once a week at home on a Wednesday evening/Thursday morning before school. The Government guidelines are for students to test weekly at home, but we feel very strongly that we will be keeping our community safer by continuing to take administer one of the tests in school for as long as we are able to do so. It is a requirement that either yourselves or the students (if responsible enough), log the test result from the home testing as follows: 1. Report the test result online at www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result 2. And report the test result to the school by completing this Microsoft Form using this link. You or your child will need to use your child’s Microsoft login. The Government guidelines are that students must upload the results to both the government website and the school after every home test. A copy of this letter will be available on the school website together with the link to the form. During the Easter Holidays the Government expectation is that students would test twice at home, on a Monday and on a Thursday. We will continue with in school mass testing when the pupils return to school on Monday 19th April. If your child tests positive, then the household and anyone in your support bubble must isolate following government guidelines. Self-isolation and treating coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms - NHS (www.nhs.uk). Current government guidance states that you must also arrange a PCR test for the person that tested positive where a test is carried out at home. Please also inform the school straight away if your child tests positive. Nova Hreod Academy is part of United Learning. United Learning comprises: UCST (Registered in England No: 2780748.
