    Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office This list summarises the Norfolk Record Office’s (NRO’s) holdings of parish (Church of England) registers and of transcripts and other copies of them. Parish Registers The NRO holds registers of baptisms, marriages, burials and banns of marriage for most parishes in the Diocese of Norwich (including Suffolk parishes in and near Lowestoft in the deanery of Lothingland) and part of the Diocese of Ely in south-west Norfolk (parishes in the deanery of Fincham and Feltwell). Some Norfolk parish records remain in the churches, especially more recent registers, which may be still in use. In the extreme west of the county, records for parishes in the deanery of Wisbech Lynn Marshland are deposited in the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, whilst Welney parish records are at the Cambridgeshire Record Office. The covering dates of registers in the following list do not conceal any gaps of more than ten years; for the populous urban parishes (such as Great Yarmouth) smaller gaps are indicated. Whenever microfiche or microfilm copies are available they must be used in place of the original registers, some of which are unfit for production. A few parish registers have been digitally photographed and the images are available on computers in the NRO's searchroom. I have been Bishop’s Foundation Governor with Hainford School since 2001 and have seen it grow into partnership with Frettenham, from a First School to a Primary, to the Harnser and now as part of the Nebula Federation.

    Norfolk Wayfarers Walking Club Walks Programme January-March 2020 The Norfolk Wayfarers is an active walking group, which offers walks for people aged 16 years and over, with most walks being in Norfolk but a few are in Suffolk. All persons attending walks/events do so at their own risk and are expected to take responsibility for their own safety and welfare. The Wayfarers group and individual walk leaders cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries during such events. The meeting place for all walks is either Westwick Street, Norwich (unless otherwise stated), or if more convenient at the actual start point of the walk at the later time stated. Any change from this will be stated in the walk details. Car sharing is encouraged with passengers paying £1 each per 10 miles, capped at £8 for 70+ miles. Prospective members can attend three walks before they are required to become full members. Dogs will be allowed on some walks but must be kept on a short lead at all times. Walks will be marked if dogs not permitted. It is advisable to bring a packed lunch.
