The first enumeration took place in 1926 and incorporated questions relating to occupation and industry, orphanhood and infirmities. The second enumeration made in 1937 was of more limited scope and was intended to bridge the gap between the census of 1926 and the census which it was proposed to take in 1941, but which had to be abandoned owing to the outbreak of war. The length of time required to process the data collected at an enumeration before it can be presented in the ultimate reports is necessarily considerable.
