North America (US & Canada) FAQ ADOBE® K-12 School Site Licenses FAQ Q: What is the Adobe Creative Suite® 3 (CS3) K-12 School Site License? A: Adobe is offering all new CS3 suites, including CS3 Design Premium, CS3 Design Standard, CS3 Web Premium, CS3 Web Standard, CS3 Production Premium, and CS3 Master Collection in the form of K-12 School Site Licenses. Adobe’s K-12 School Site Licenses allows a school to install a suite on up to 500 school-owned or school-leased computers regardless of school enrollment size. School Site Licenses also come with DVDs of curriculum, the Adobe Digital Careers Teaching Resources, and training materials, the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Video Workshops, to help educators implement career and technical education programs around design, web, and video programs. Q: Who is eligible to purchase the K-12 School Site License? A: K-12 School Site Licenses are available to qualifying accredited K-12 public and non-public schools only, located at a single address. Q: Can my district purchase a K-12 School Site License and distribute licenses amongst multiple schools? A: No, a district must purchase a K-12 School Site License for each school that will be using the software. K-12 School Site Licenses can not be broken up and distributed among multiple schools or school locations. For example, if a district wants to purchase Creative Suite 3 K-12 School Site Licenses for 5 different schools within the district, they must purchase 5 separate site licenses. They also have the option to purchase individual volume licenses through TLP or CLP from an Adobe Authorized Education Reseller. North America (US & Canada) FAQ Q: Can I share licenses with my district office? A: District offices cannot install software from a K-12 School Site License but must purchase volume licenses through TLP or CLP as they do not qualify as an accredited K-12 public or non-public school. Q: May I duplicate and distribute the curriculum DVD? A: Schools are welcome to duplicate and distribute the curriculum resources from the Adobe Digital Careers Teaching Resources DVD among educators within their school. Q: May I duplicate and distribute the training DVD? A: Duplication and distribution is not allowed for the training DVD. A: K-12 School Site Licenses can be purchased through our volume licensing program; Adobe Open Options --- TLP or CLP. A: Deliverables include software licenses for the respective CS3 suite. When purchasing a K-12 School Site License, you will also need to purchase one (1) media kit with your license. The media kit includes the following: K-12 Site End User License Agreement (EULA), the Adobe Digital Careers Teaching Resources DVD (available July 2007), and the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Video Workshops DVD. Q: Can I purchase additional media kits? A: Yes, contact your Adobe Authorized Education Reseller for availability of additional media kits. Please note that additional kits come with the Adobe Digital Careers Teaching Resources DVD and the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Video Workshops only. A: No, K-12 School Site Licenses are only available through volume licensing and must be purchased through an Adobe Authorized Education Reseller. Q: Can a higher-education institution (College or University) purchase a K-12 School Site License? A: No, K-12 School Site Licenses are only available to K-12 schools and districts purchasing on behalf of schools. Q: Do K-12 School Site Licenses qualify for points under AOO 4.5? A: Yes, K-12 School Site licenses qualify for points under the AOO 4.5 Program. Visit www.adobe.com/go/edu_buy for additional information. Q: Can Adobe Creative Suite 3 editions be broken up and individual products installed on multiple computers? A: No, a K-12 School Site License for a suite can only be installed on one machine. The maximum amount of suites that can be installed is 500. Licenses allow for installation on a single school-owned or school- leased computer. Q: Do K-12 School Site Licenses allow teacher home use? A: Yes, each K-12 School Site License comes with an additional 50 teacher home-use rights licenses. Software used at home by teachers must be used exclusively for teaching purposes related to the teachers’ employment with the school (such as lesson planning and classroom preparation, etc.) Q: Can I install K-12 School Site Licenses on student computers not owned by the school? A: No, K-12 School Site Licenses can only be installed on school-owned or school-leased computers. Students can purchase education versions of CS3 through an Adobe Authorized Education Reseller. Q: What are the systems requirements for each of the K-12 School Site Licenses? A: Please see system requirements for CS3 products at www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/systemreqs Q: Do you have curriculum available for any of the K-12 School Site Licenses? A: Adobe curriculum for Creative Suite 3 will be available late summer 2007. The Adobe Digital Careers Teaching Resources DVD will include three year-long curricula, focused on career areas in design North America (US & Canada) FAQ and print, web, and video. This curriculum material will also be available free of charge via www.adobe.com late summer 2007. Q: Can I purchase Upgrade Plan for K-12 School Site Licenses? A: Yes, Adobe offers Upgrade Plan for all CS3 K-12 School Site Licenses. Please contact your Adobe Authorized Educational Reseller for additional information. Q: Do you offer upgrade paths if I currently own a former Macromedia® Studio MX, MX2004, or Macromedia Studio 8 Site License? A: There are currently no upgrade paths available from previous K-12 Site Licenses, whether they were purchased from Macromedia or Adobe. Contact your reseller if you purchased a previous Macromedia K-12 Site License with subscription. Q: Do I have to purchase separate K-12 School Site Licenses for Mac and Windows applications? A: Where applicable, K-12 School Site Licenses allow use of software on Mac and Windows platforms. Customers are free to install software on both platforms at their school provided the total cumulative installations do not exceed 500.
