2014 Australian Rowing Team Selection Trials Provisional Invitation List as of: 4-Apr-14 Trial: Senior , Under 23 & Under 21 Location: SIRC - Penrith, NSW Trial Dates: 24th April - 1st May 2014 Key notes: 1 Only Tier 1-3 athletes have been listed recognising SIS SAS scholarship holders. 2 Small boat racing for all senior, U23 & U21 athletes will commence on Friday 25th April AM session. A more detailed trials program will be published with the trials handbook. 3 SIRC Regatta venue will be open for rowing trailers and athletes to arrive from 8:00am Monday 21st April. 4 There will be a compulsory Senior, Under 23 & Under 21 Trials Briefing: Thursday 24th April 5:00pm in the SIRC grandstand. 5 There will be a compulsory Australian Team planning and briefing day on Thursday 1st May for all selected senior & U23 athletes and coaches 6 Trials attendance for all Tiers 1-3 athletes will be subsidised through their respective Institute or Academy. You may not know this but Josh Dunkley Smith attended his first Olympic Games in 1992. He was a mere toddler and your correspondent first met him at that event. He was there because his mother Addy was a distinguished sailor and a competitor in sailing at those Games. They later went on to combine with Thomas Ethell, Daniel DelRio and Nicholas Purnell (coxswain) from Canberra Boys Grammar School to also win GOLD in the Men's U19 Coxed Four and SILVER in the Schoolboy Coxed Four. Both Mat and Angus will be competing again at the National Junior Team Selection Regatta in April and are expected to be in contention for spots to the Junior World Championships.
