The AFCWA is for wives of coaches at all levels.” – Nancy Cubit Larry Haylor Head Coach, Western Ontario University (Canada) WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW HIM: University of Western Ontario head coach Larry Haylor is the winningest coach in Canadian intercollegiate football history. He secured the record as the Mustangs defeated the Waterloo Warriors (Ontario) on Sept. 6, 2003, by a score of 62-12 in Waterloo, giving Haylor win No. 154 – breaking the record previously held by David “Tuffy” Knight, a former Waterloo and Laurier head coach. Knight is now an assistant with the Laurier Golden Hawks, who showed up at the stadium for their home game last night just as Haylor and the Mustangs were boarding the bus back to London, Ontario. According to sports writer Ryan Pyette of the London Free Press, Knight does not want to let go of the record lightly. “I think there were a couple of games he (Haylor) was suspended for giving the officials heck, so I want to check on that (record),” Knight jokingly told the reporter. Haylor, who just finished his 19th season with Western, has posted a winning record every season since taking the helm of the Mustangs in 1984. In 1994, he guided Western to an undefeated season (12-0) to win his second Vanier Cup. He won his first Cup in 1989 (11-1). Canadian Intercollegiate All-time Wins 1.
