John's first job as a 'journo' was writing part-time for the Queenscliff Pilot filing news on surf carnivals, local events and just about anything for 3 pence a line way back in the late 1950s. "This led to a working lifetime in the media, marketing and advertising - I'm forever grateful to the 'Queenscliff Pilot," said John. His link with Point Lonsdale goes back even further when his parents owned a holiday house in the town. "I'm filling in time writing a weekly article for Ash Long's Melbourne Observer," explained John. "It's a labour of love as no money changes hands and the reason I do it is because I enjoy the task along with the research and fact finding." His borough-based articles and titbits are very welcome.
