Tiwi Islands Training & Employment Board (TITEB) celebrated their eighth graduation This ceremony on Wednesday the 25th of September. The day began with distinguished guests and staff of TITEB jumping aboard the new Sealink ferry at Cullen bay Darwin. Issue

Design and Publication © 2003 Tiwi Islands Training & Employment Board Tiwi Times September 2013 Graduation 2013 Before the graduation proceedings began, there was a traditional smoking ceremony for a much respected and well known Tiwi elder who had passed away earlier that week. Graduating students all gathered in the main classroom where they were gowned and ready to receive their well earned certificates. Mr Francis Xavier Kurrupuwu, member for Arafura, presented the key note speech.

Page 2 Tiwi Times September 2013 Graduation 2013 Karina Coombes, TITEB Business student and apprentice of the year presented the student response speech. Steve Sunk and his assistants were presented with beautiful bird carvings in appreciation for volunteering their time and efforts to prepare and cook lunch for the graduates and guests. The graduates stood proudly with their certificate in front of their families while they were congratulated through traditional song and dance.

Mr Paul Fitzsimons from CDU presented testamurs to 20 students who graduated in: Conservation and Land Management, Baking and Cooking. Mr Adrian Mitchell from Batchelor Institute presented testamurs to 26 students who graduated in: Interpreting, Health Support Services, Education Support and Community Services. Moya Perry from Matrix on Board presented testamurs to 4 TITEB Staff in: Certificate III in Community Services Work. The chair of TITEB, C.J. Kerinauia presented testamurs to 30 students who graduated in: Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Introductory) Certificate I in General Education for Adults Certificate II in Business Certificate III in Business Certificate IV in Business

This office was the old Territory Alliance site office behind the Wurrumiyanga TITEB Training Centre on Puti Drive. With the help of the CDEP Guys we got all the furniture delivered and assembled, now we are waiting on Telstra for phone lines and internet.
