2007: Received a $21,239 Kresge Science Grant for educational equipment (co-author with Tom Feeney).

______Selected Field Trips Conducted/Workshop Presentations related to Research

2004 : Served as a “Geoscientist-in-the-Park” at Apostle Islands and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore from September through November. Duties included leading field trips for park personnel, staff training, and providing written interpretative materials on local geology.

2002: Co-leader of the 48th annual “Friends of the Pleistocene” annual field conference in Grand Marais, MI. The conference attracted approximately 70 geologists from throughout the central United States and is the premier field conference held within the discipline each year.

1998: Gave an invited presentation: "Geology of South-Central Pennsylvania," as part of a workshop on the stewardship of watershed ecosystems at Kings Gap Environmental Education and Training Center.

Co-led a three day soils field conference in Traverse City, Michigan, July 21-23, sponsored by the U. S. Department of Agriculture. The conference brought together more than 40 geologists, soils scientists, and environmental managers from throughout the Midwest.

1996: Led a local geologic field trip to South Mountain for K-12 and college teachers at the Pennsylvania Geographical Society annual meeting in Carlisle.

Led field trip on Michigan glacial geology for staff geologists of the Michigan Geological Survey, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, July 1.

1994: Lectured on Great Lakes geology for the Great Lakes Water Institute Workshop, Kings Gap Environmental and Education Training Center, June.

1992: Served as an invited subject matter expert, provided a deposition, and led a field trip for National Park Service personnel at a two day workshop entitled "Grand Sable Dunes Workshop: Protection strategies for the future," in conjunction with the U.S. Dept. of the Interior at Grand Marais, MI. 5
