Ewing. Perhaps no group from the Lone Star State is as universally recognizable as the Rangerettes, the most celebrated women's drill team in America. For over a half century, the group has served as an amba.'\sador corps for their institution, performing at numerous collegiate and professional sporting events, before dignitaries and political leaders on several continents, and in a wide variety of state and national festivals, parades, and celebrations. Although the group debuted amidst fanfare, fireworks, and promise, such successes were beyond the dreams of the girls and the school officials responsible for its creation.

    KIL GORE COLLEGE “It takes a big smile to really bring out applause.” Rangerette Founder and Director, 1940 - 1979 On September 14, 1940, the Rangerettes first walked KIL GORE COLLEGE onto the Kilgore College football field in the darkness of a pitch black stadium. As 48 girls in red shirts, white belts, and daring 2-inch-above-the-knee blue skirts danced in a line behind 5 officers, distinctive in all white, fire crackers soared behind them. The audience was speechless. Halftime was a time for socializing under the bleachers, not sitting in them.
