This strategic location is not accompanied by the success of the development of the Ocarina area as a public space that offers a variety of game facilities and culinary venues. The phenomenon that makes the need for revitalizing measures both physically and economically to make the Ocarina area can attract visitors to come and enjoy the facilities that are in it. The influence of service quality on customer satisfaction was at 48 %, and other factors beyond the quality of the service, an influential amounting to 52 %. There is a direct relationship between significant variable quality of service with customer satisfaction, on average 77% declare satisfied, with the sequence of service quality is responsivenes ( 85 % ) , tangible ( 80 % ) , reliability ( 80 % ) , assurance ( 78 % ) , and empaty ( 73 % ).     The perceived destination image of Indonesia: an assessment on travel blogs written by the industry’s top markets By Bernadeth Petriana A thesis submitted to the Victoria University of Wellington in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Tourism Management Victoria University of Wellington 2017 1 Abstract The tourist gaze theory suggests that tourists are taught by the destination marketing organisation to know how, when, and where to look. However, the birth of travel blogs has challenged this image as they offer the public “unfiltered” information. Travel bloggers have become more powerful in influencing the decision making of potential tourists. This study employs textual and photographic content analysis to investigate the destination image of Indonesia held by the industry’s key markets; Singapore and Australia. 106 blog entries and over 1,500 pictures were content analysed, and the results suggest that overall tourists tended to have positive images of Indonesia. International tourists are still very much concentrated in the traditionally popular places such as Bali and Jakarta. Negative images of Indonesia include inadequate infrastructure, ineffective wildlife protection, and westernisation of Bali. Natural and cultural resources are proven in this thesis to be Indonesia’s top tourism products. Influenced by their cultural backgrounds, Singaporean and Australian bloggers have demonstrated a dissimilar tourist gaze. The current study also analysed the bloggers’ image of Indonesia as opposed to the image projected by the government through the national tourism brand “Wonderful Indonesia”. The results indicate a narrow gap between the two images. Implications for Indonesian tourism practitioners include stronger law enforcement to preserve local culture and natural attractions, and recognising the market’s preference to promote other destinations.

Under the coordination of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Indonesia has mainstreamed SDGs into National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and elaborated in the Government Work Plan (RKP) annual budget documents. In its implementation, Indonesia upholds the SDGs principles, namely (i) universal development principles, (ii) integration, (iii) no one left behind, and (iv) inclusive principles. Achievement of the ambitious SDGs targets, a set of international commitments to end poverty and build a better world by 2030, will require significant investment. The investment gap for the SDGs remains significant. Additional long-term resources need to be mobilized from all resources to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In addition, it needs to be ensured that investment for the SDGs is inclusive and leaves no one behind. Indonesia is one of the countries that was given the opportunity to offer investment opportunities related to sustainable development in the 2019 Sustainable Development Goals Investment (SDGI) Fair in New York on April 15-17 2019. The SDGI Fair provides a platform, for governments, the private sectors, philanthropies and financial intermediaries, for “closing the SDG investment gap” through its focus on national and international efforts to accelerate the mobilization of sufficient investment for sustainable development. Therefore, Indonesia would like to take this opportunity to convey various concrete investment for SDGs.     CAROLE FAUCHER Contesting boundaries in the Riau Archipelago The fall of the New Order and the implementation of the regional autonomy laws have provided fresh opportunities for the local elite to promote and consolidate their own sphere of influence. As has already been the case in a number of provinces and districts, instances of conflict have spread, often in the context of power struggles and highly complex social and political restructurings (H. Schulte Nordholt 2002). In many cases, these conflicts are popularly articulated through the language of ethnic and religious identity politics. Similarly, ethnic and religious sensitivities which were consciously repressed during the period of the New Order, are now exposed. The Riau Archipelago (or Kepri from Kepulauan Riau) had been so far largely spared from acute tensions and mounting violence. However, among the urban middle class and between generations ideological polarization has taken place. The different attempts to conceptualize ‘Masyarakat Kepri’ – the society of Kepulauan Riau – by politicians and public intellectuals seems to demonstrate how an increasing emphasis on regional identity has gradually superseded a more general concern with the nation. The discussion about the character of the newly formed province of Kepri has oscillated over the past years between the aristocrats’ ideal of reverting to the era of the sultanate, and an image of an industrial oriented pluralistic society, advocated by business people, which is strong and autonomous enough to compete economically with Singapore and Malaysia. The proximity to Malaysia and Singapore has created an interesting para- dox. On one hand, Singapore and Malaysia have been a source of identity for the Malays in the Riau Archipelago as important economic and cultural power bases.
