(For instance, you can ask Siri to set an alarm or a reminder for you at a specific time of a specific day.) • All devices have a button for the user to press & hold in order to activate Siri and then give the verbal command. (Mobile devices with a Home Button will press & hold this button to activate Siri. Mobile Devices without a Home Button will press & hold their Side Button. Computers will click the Siri icon near the top right corner of their screen.) 5 Siri Settings To find Siri’s settings; open your Settings App and then tap “Siri & Search” (depending on the model of your device, it may just say “Siri” and you may not see all of the Siri settings shown in this lesson). 6 Siri Settings On the next screen you will be able to turn on/off different ways to access Siri, set up the language & voice (this also effects what language & dialect Siri listens for), turn on/off different features within Siri, and manage which apps in your device are allowed to utilize Siri. 7 Siri Settings “Announce Calls” allows you to select when Siri reads aloud the name or number of an incoming call. “Siri Responses” allows you to select when Siri speaks the response to your command aloud & turn on/off captions of either what you command or Siri’s response. “Siri & Dictation History” will delete the log of your previous commands. 8 Setting Up “Hey Siri” Turning on “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’” will automatically open a window that will look like this example photo. After you tap “Continue,” follow the next 5 prompts by verbally speaking aloud the words in quotes. As long as you speak the words clearly into your device, the screen will automatically move on to the next prompt. 9 Setting Up “Hey Siri” 10 Setting Up “Hey Siri” When you’ve finished all 5 “Hey Siri” verbal prompts, tap “Done.” The screen will automatically go back to the Settings App showing the “Listen to ‘Hey Siri’” feature is now turned on. If you ever turn this feature off, you will have to rerecord the 5 verbal prompts again in order to turn the feature back on. 11 What is Dictation? • Dictation is a voice activated feature on Apple devices that gives you the ability to talk to your device instead of typing. • You can access Dictation almost anytime your keyboard is on your screen. So if you really want you never have to type a text, email, note, or even Facebook message ever again (some Third Party Apps may not be capable of utilizing the Dictation feature). • You can use multiple languages for Dictation. 12 Dictation Settings To access Dictation settings; open the Settings App, tap “General,” tap “Keyboard” & then scroll down to “Enable Dictation.” Here you can turn on/off the Dictation feature & set any languages you speak. 13 Using Dictation To use Dictation; any time your digital keyboard is activated, tap the microphone icon near the bottom right corner of your device & then speak aloud whatever you would like typed out on your screen. 14 What is a Passcode? • A Passcode is the key used to unlock your device or confirm your identity before performing certain features (like an online purchase or security settings change). • You are not required to set a Passcode for your device, however it is highly recommended to do so for the safety & security of your personal information within the device. • You can change or turn on/off the Passcode at any time. 15 Passcode Settings To find the Passcode settings, Open the Settings App & tap “Passcode” (depending on the model of your device, this area of Settings may read as “Touch ID & Passcode” or “Face ID & Passcode”). 16 Passcode Settings On the next screen you can; turn on/off your Passcode, change it, adjust how quickly after you lock your device it is then required to be entered in order to unlock the device, turn on/off using your voice to dial a call (Siri), and more. 17 Passcode Settings If you scroll further down the list of Passcode settings, you can turn on/off what is accessible on your Lock Screen. “Today View” shows your calendar events, weather, traffic updates & more. “Notifications View” shows your notifications. “Siri” is another area in settings to allow Siri on your Lock Screen. “Reply with Message” allows you to reply to incoming or missed calls with text messages from your Lock Screen. “Home Control” allows you to interact with your other home smart devices from your lock screen. “Wallet” allows you to use Apple Pay from your Lock Screen. “Erase Data” is the security feature that erases your device completely after 10 failed passcode attempts in a row. 18 Saving a Passcode When saving or changing a Passcode for your device, you have the option of choosing a “Custom Alphanumeric Code” (a password with no limits that can have numbers, letters or symbols), “Custom Numeric Code” (a number code of any length) or a “4-Digit Numeric Code.” 19 What is Touch ID? • Touch ID is the ability for some Apple devices to scan a finger print in order to unlock your device or confirm your identity before performing certain features (like an online purchase or security settings change). • You are not required to set a Touch ID for your device, however it is highly recommended to do so for the safety & security of your personal information within the device. • You are also not required to have a Passcode, but if you activate the Touch ID feature your device will now require you to create a Passcode. • You can change or turn on/off the Touch ID at any time. • You can save up to 5 separate finger print scans in order to use different fingers (or toes) for the Touch ID feature. 20 Touch ID Settings To access Touch ID settings; open the Settings App & then tap “Touch ID & Passcode” (You will only see “Touch ID” in your Settings App if your device is capable of using the Touch ID feature). 21 Touch ID Settings If you have a Passcode on your device, you will first need to enter it in order to proceed. On the next screen you will need to tap “Add a Fingerprint” in order to activate this feature. 22 Saving a Touch ID To save a fingerprint; tap “Add Fingerprint Scan” & then follow the prompts by placing (not clicking) your finger on the Home Button. When asked to “adjust your grip” on the next screen, tap “Continue” & move your same finger in different positions on the Home Button (for example; horizontally instead of vertically, and the finger tip instead of finger pad). 23 Touch ID Settings When finished saving your fingerprint, you will automatically return to your Settings App, where you can turn on/off different features for Touch ID, add up to 5 total fingerprints, rename previous fingerprints & delete them. 24 Touch ID Settings If you scroll further down the list of Touch ID & Passcode settings, you will see that the same setting options are available here as previously shown for Passcode settings. The only additions are turning on/off access to “Control Center” & “Return Missed Calls” from your Lock Screen, & connecting to Third Party “USB Accessories” without needing to unlock your device. 25 What is Face ID? • Face ID is the ability for some Apple devices to scan your face in order to unlock your device or confirm your identity before performing certain features (like an online purchase or security settings change). • You are not required to set a Face ID for your device, however it is highly recommended to do so for the safety & security of your personal information within the device. • You are also not required to have a Passcode, but if you activate the Touch ID feature your device will now require you to create a Passcode. • You can change or turn on/off the Face ID at any time. • You can save up to 2 separate face scans in order to use different appearances for the Face ID feature (perfect for make-up users, eye-glasses users, facial hair changes, etc.). 26 Face ID Settings To access Face ID settings; Open the Settings App & then tap “Face ID & Passcode” (You will only see “Face ID” in your Settings App if your device is capable of using the Face ID feature).

  • 5Tips for Securing Your Mobile Device for Telehealth
Tips for Securing your Mobile Device 5for Telehealth The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires that providers protect your information and not share it without your permission. Telehealth providers are required by law to secure medical information that can be shared electronically by encrypting messages and adding other safeguards into the software they use. However, patients’ devices on the receiving end of care often do not always have these safeguards while some medical devices have been shown to be vulnerable to hackers. It is therefore the responsibility of the patient to secure personal devices. 01 Use a PIN or Passcode to secure device Securing your mobile device is important for ensuring that others do not have access to your confidential information and applications. To protect your iPad, iPhone, Android phone you need to set a passcode. It is a 4- to 6-digit PIN used to grant access to the device, like the code you use for an ATM bank card or a debit card. Securing your Apple (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices In addition to allowing you to secure your phone with a passcode, Newer Apple and Android devices also use biometrics called Touch ID and Face ID on Apple, and Face recognition, Irises, and Fingerprints on some Android devices. These tools use your Face, eyes, and fingerprints as unique identifiers to help secure your devices. Face ID and Face recognition use your facial features in order to unlock your device. Touch ID, which is no longer being used on newer versions of iPhone and iPad, and Fingerprints on Android is a fingerprinting tool.

  • Apple Submission NIST RFI Privacy Framework
Apple Submission in Response to NIST Request for Information Developing a Privacy Framework, Docket No. 181101997-8997-01 January 14, 2018 Apple appreciates this opportunity to comment on NIST’s Request For Information (RFI) regarding its proposed Privacy Framework. Apple supports the development of the Privacy Framework and NIST’s engagement on this important topic. At Apple, we believe privacy is a fundamental human right. We have long embraced the principles of privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default, not because the law requires it, but because it is the right thing for our customers. We’ve proved time and again that great experiences don’t have to come at the expense of privacy and security. Instead, they support them. Every Apple product is designed from the ground up to protect our users’ personal information. We’ve shown that protecting privacy is possible at every level of the technical stack and shown how these protections must evolve over time. Users can protect their devices with Face ID or Touch ID, where their data is converted into a mathematical representation that is encrypted and used only by the Secure Enclave1 on their device, cannot be accessed by the operating system, and is never stored on Apple servers. In communication, we use end-to-end encryption to protect iMessage and FaceTime conversations so that no one but the participants can access them. On the web, Safari was the first browser to block third-party cookies by default, and we introduced Intelligent Tracking Protection to combat the growth of online tracking. When we use data to create better experiences for our users, we work hard to do it in a way that doesn’t compromise privacy.

  • Touch ID™ Frequently Asked Questions What Is Touch ID? Touch
Touch ID™ Frequently Asked Questions What is Touch ID? Touch ID is the biometric fingerprint authentication technology available with Apple devices such as iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and 6S, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, or newer. Why use Touch ID? Touch ID is meant as a quick and convenient way to access your account. It's a seamless way to use your fingerprint as your credentials. How do I Enable or Disable Touch ID? To manually Enable or Disable Touch ID, go to the application Settings and click on Touch ID. On the Touch ID Settings screen, swipe the Touch ID button. A confirmation prompt will display. How secure is Touch ID? Every fingertip is unique, so it is rare that even a small section of two separate fingerprints are alike to register for Touch ID. If my phone has multiple fingerprints registered, will they be able to access my account? Yes, all saved fingerprints on your device will have access to your account. How do I keep my phone further protected? We recommend you add a passcode or security lock to your phone to further secure access when the device is not in use. In addition, keep your phone software up to date, including your Service 1st application. If the device doesn't recognize my fingerprint, can I still view my account? Yes, you will always have the option to log in using your account number/User ID and password. When the Touch ID prompt comes up click Cancel and enter your account credentials to log in. Can an account be Enabled for Touch ID on multiple devices? Yes, an account may be setup on multiple devices.

  • With the Release of the Ipad 8Th Generation and the Ipad Air 4Th Generation, Apple Has Made Available Ipads That Support the Apple Pencil and Are Reasonably Priced
With the release of the iPad 8th Generation and the iPad Air 4th Generation, Apple has made available iPads that support the Apple Pencil AND are reasonably priced. We continue to believe the combination of an iPad and an Apple Pencil provides a very powerful learning tool. ● For this reason, the School is requiring each student in Middle School to use an iPad which is compatible with the Apple Pencil. ● Students are not required to own an Apple Pencil as the School will make class sets of Pencils available for teachers to check out for specific classroom activities. If you are contemplating the purchase of a new iPad for your student, The Technology Team offers the following general minimum recommendations in order of our suggested preference: 1. iPad Pro 11” (2nd Generation) with 256GB of iPad storage and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) ● The iPad Pro 11” and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) are amazing tools for the classroom. ● The 256GB of storage is sufficient for school data (apps, videos, and projects) as well as personal data. ● The iPad Pro 11” has superior display qualities and a faster processor. ● The iPad Pro 11” is compatible with the Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio. ● The iPad Pro 11” supports Face ID. 2. iPad Air (4th generation) and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) ● The iPad Air is a mid-range-priced iPad. ● The iPad Air supports the Apple Pencil (2nd generation). ● The 64GB of storage should be sufficient for school data (apps, videos, and projects).
