Two Porsche Team Germany players have progressed to the last round of qualifying at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix - Annika Beck and Mona Barthel. Both have to win once more on Monday to capture a place in the strong main draw field at the long-standing Stuttgart tour-nament. Annika Beck, 20, was taken to three sets by the Czech Republic’s Eva Birnerova before win-ning 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 and was then followed into the qualifying finals by Mona Barthel. The Ger-man comfortably beat compatriot Antonia Lottner, a member of the Porsche Talent Team Germany, 6-1, 6-2. Currently the world No. 85, she will play Croatian Alja Tomljanovic for a main draw berth. Annika Beck will now face Katerina Vankova in the final round of qualifying after the Czech defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam to prevent an all-German qualifying final. The 20-year old Porsche Talent Team Germany player lost 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) to Vankova despite being 3-0 up in the third set. Annika Beck, the number 2 seed in qualifying and world ranked No. 49, will go into the match on Monday against Vankova (No. 287) as the favourite. The two other finals for the right to compete alongside the world’s top players in the main draw will be between the Latvian Diana Marcinkevica and Katerina Siniakova (Czech Repub-lic) and Giola Barbieri (Italy) against Johanna Konta. The Briton had to go the full distance – 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4 – to get past the German Anna Zaja. An impressive performance has handed Porsche Team Germany a 4-0 win against Brazil and a place in the first ever Fed Cup finals to be staged in Budapest. The decisive third point for the team captained by Rainer Schüttler was secured on Saturday by Laura Siegemund when winning 6-1, 6-2 against Gabriela Cé. Led by Laura Siegemund as the No. 1, Porsche Team Germany produced an impressive team performance in Florianopolis, the capital of the southern state of Santa Catarina. In claiming her first ever Fed Cup victory on Friday, the 2017 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix winner beat Teliana Pereira to give the team a 1-0 lead which Tatjana Maria then doubled against Gabriela Cé. The dependable Laura Siegemund then duly clinched the match in the Costão do Santinho Resort on Saturday. Playing in temperatures of 29 degree centigrade, she put Gabriela Cé under pressure right from the start before converting her first match point to run out an easy winner against the Brazilian No. 1. After taking an unassailable 3-0 lead, the fourth singles was not played. In the concluding doubles, Anna-Lena Friedsam and Antonia Lottner overcame Laura Pigossi/Luisa Stefani 6-1, 6-4 to round off the success for Porsche Team Germany. “I’m very satisfied, the girls played excellently. The whole team worked well together. Now we want to perform well as a team in Budapest,” said team captain Rainer Schüttler.

Successful start for Porsche Team Germany on the opening day of the Fed Cup tie in Brazil – Laura Siegemund and Tatjana Maria both won in Florianopolis, the capital of the southern state of Santa Catarina on Friday to hand the team captained by Rainer Schüttler a 2-0 lead. Playing on clay in humid conditions and a temperature of 27 degrees centigrade in the Costão do Santinho Resort, Laura Siegemund, the world No. 73, beat Teliana Pereira (No. 359) 6-3, 6-3 in the day’s first rubber. For the winner of the 2017 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, it was her first ever Fed Cup win. Tatjana Maria (No 91) then extended the lead for Porsche Team Germany with a 6-3, 7-6 victory against the world No. 225 Gabriela Cé. “It’s very nice to have recorded two wins on the first day. It was important that Laura was a comfortable winner in the first rubber. It gave Tatjana all the backing she needed,” said team captain Rainer Schüttler. Laura Siegemund said: “I know Teliana well and knew it was going to be a tough match and that I had to battle for every point. I started off by playing a little tentatively but then found my A-game more and more.” Tatjana Maria was simply “very happy to have supplied the second point”. Presse-Information 17. März 2015 Nr. T 5/15 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Tennis-Weltklasse in der Porsche-Arena Stuttgart. Der Porsche Tennis Grand Prix lockt die Stars auch 2015 nach Stuttgart. Mit Maria Sharapova als Nummer 1 schlagen vom 18. bis 26. April unter dem Motto „Go for it!“ insgesamt neun Top-10-Spielerinnen in der Porsche-Arena auf. Zu gewin- nen sind bei der 38. Auflage des Traditionsturniers neben dem Preisgeld ein Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabrio als Hauptpreis für die Siegerin. Ein absolutes Highlight im attraktiven Rahmenprogramm ist ein Showmatch mit der US-Tennis-Legende Andre Agassi. Die Spielerinnen der WTA Tour haben den Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2014 zum weltweit beliebtesten Turnier seiner Kategorie (Premier 700) gewählt – und das nun schon zum sechsten Mal seit 2007. Diese Auszeichnung ist für Porsche ganz beson- ders wertvoll. „Sie kommt von den Spielerinnen, die uns damit zeigen, wie wohl sie sich bei uns fühlen“, sagt Turnierdirektor Markus Günthardt. „Für uns ist das ein Ver- trauensbeweis und ein Ansporn, weiter hart daran zu arbeiten, unser Turnier jedes Jahr noch ein bisschen besser zu machen.“ Viel Luft nach oben bleibt allerdings nicht, wie ein Blick auf die Teilnehmerliste zeigt. Neun Top-10-Spielerinnen, dazu weitere sechs aus den Top 20 – das ist normaler- weise die zweite Woche eines Grand-Slam-Turniers. „Unser Starterfeld hat auch diesmal wieder absolutes Weltklasseniveau“, sagt Markus Günthardt.
