Chimera Ants arc has ended and the Election arc has Hunter x Hunter started. The end of this arc always made me depressed. The next arc would be the last arc that I've known. Hisoka and Illumi are now back and we're about to venture more into Killua's family. What an arc. The ending scene between Komugi and Meruem had me crying. It's amazing how differently I felt for Meruem and even Neferpitou by the end of this arc compared to the beginning. Vol. 30: Volume 30 death was sad, but it wasn't emphasized all that much. The Miniature Rose happened and everyone just sort of went with the fact that the chairman was dead. I guess that's the Hunter mindset coming into play, perhaps. I'm really excited about how this volume in particular will translate to the ani What an arc. I'm really excited about how this volume Hunter x Hunter particular will translate to the anime, as there's so much the animators can play around with. Welfin and his companions are now looking for him, and I wonder how they will or IF they will, perhaps find him. I wonder how Gon will react to Vol. 30: Volume 30 in the future! Holy cow, did Togashi-sensei did a good job on that. Now to find Vol. 30: Volume 30 what will happen to Gon and Killua and all. Hunter x Hunter was actually the perfect ending to the Chimera arc, despite the fact that the "final battle" with Meruem was rather anticlimactic I never thought that I would have so many feelings when the end of this arc came around as honestly I wasn't really sold on the arc for the entire journey through but I'm really impressed. How exactly will the king be dead in a few hours? HOW Did another rose blow up, or was that a flashback? This is not going well for Welfin, but at the same time I think he might actually get out of this alive considering how big of an idiot Pouf is being… -- Or not. That might just be the one possible thing that could save Welfin o. O -- And would you look at that, it did. They have won? Why is Meruem saying that? Stop making me feel sorry for you! D: -- Looks like Pouf succumbed to the radiation poisoning. Welfin really DID age all at once… I thought that was just Hunter x Hunter appearance brought on by fear, but it seems to be a permanent change. Announcing his resignation as chairman and appointing his successor? Also, does this mean that he was Vol. 30: Volume 30 to die this entire time? Or just that he suspected it? What Hunter x Hunter with the King? Hunter x Hunter kind of cop-out IS this? And now they just think it was some insanity from a dictator? Well it IS true that almost no one still living saw the Ants, with the exception of the Hunters… Vol. 30: Volume 30. Makes sense considering what he did… but still - impressive! What does THAT mean? How exactly are you going to save him? O -- Ohhhh… Now Vol. 30: Volume 30 get it. Nowwww it makes sense. Was that a winning move? You can all go home now. I love that of the old statistics of hunters going missing… it included Ging multiple times. But what ARE they Ging rigged it in advance? Smart XD -- So the hunters can vote for anyone, huh? Hisoka is sussing out potential opponents to fight. Which brother does Ilumi want to kill? And why is there potential that Kil will die? Because of visiting his father? No one wins Hunter x Hunter round! XD hide spoiler ] hide spoiler ] Four volumes too much! Palm and Octopus hide Komugi, with Palm deducing that Komugi is a double edged sword to Vol. 30: Volume 30 king.     Talking like a Shōnen Hero: Masculinity in Post-Bubble Era Japan through the Lens of Boku and Ore Hannah E. Dahlberg-Dodd The Ohio State University Abstract Comics (manga) and their animated counterparts (anime) are ubiquitous in Japanese popular culture, but rarely is the language used within them the subject of linguistic inquiry. This study aims to address part of this gap by analyzing nearly 40 years’ worth of shōnen anime, which is targeted predominately at adolescent boys. In the early- and mid-20th century, male protagonists saw a shift in first-person pronoun usage. Pre-war, protagonists used boku, but beginning with the post-war Economic Miracle, shōnen protagonists used ore, a change that reflected a shift in hegemonic masculinity to the salaryman model. This study illustrates that a similar change can be seen in the late-20th century. With the economic downturn, salaryman masculinity began to be questioned, though did not completely lose its hegemonic status. This is reflected in shōnen works as a reintroduction of boku as a first- person pronoun option for protagonists beginning in the late 90s.
