I appreciate reading how Kirk learned and valued a man who was less than perfect in all his language and actions, but had traits that were encouraging and valuable. That is true of every person I meet and me as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and have recommended it to others. This is quite simply an excellent book that details the teaching and coaching methods Coach Knight has used to win over 900 games and 3 NCAA Championships with close to a 98% graduation rate. Kirk shows a different side of Knight that has been seldom seen over the course of his career. Using detailed notes from his playing days, Kirk shows the level of preparation and instruction Coach Knight used to get the maximum out of his players and the techniques he used to build a winning team. This book is a must-have for any player, coach or IU Basketball fan. A front row seat to the fast paced relationship between a hard charging coach and an eager player who is loaded with more talent than skill.

In men's basketball, coaches will lose the built-in recruiting tool of playing near home during conference play and then at Madison Square Garden for the Big East Tournament. But what about the rest of the sports? Here's a look at the potential Missouri Pittsburgh Syracuse Nebraska Ohio State Northwestern Minnesota Michigan St. Wisconsin Purdue State Penn Michigan Iowa Indiana Illinois future of the non-revenue sports at Rutgers if it joins the Big Ten: BASEBALL Now: Under longtime head coach Fred Hill Sr., the Scarlet Knights made the Rutgers NCAA Tournament four times last decade. The Big East Conference’s national clout was hurt by the defection of Miami in 2004. The last conference team to make the College World Series was Louisville in 2007. After: Rutgers could emerge as the class of the conference. You find the best baseball either down South or out West. The power conferences are the ACC, Pac-10 and SEC. A Big Ten team has not made the CWS since Michigan in 1984. MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY Now: At the Big East championships in October, Rutgers finished 12th out of 14 teams. Syracuse won the Big East title and finished 14th at nationals. Four other Big East schools made the Top 25. After: The conferences are similar. Wisconsin won the conference title and took seventh at nationals. Two other schools made the Top 25. MEN’S GOLF Now: The Scarlet Knights have made the NCAA Tournament twice since 1983.

We analyze the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Prefer- ence by Similarity to Ideal Solutions (TOPSIS). We build an old model based on the combination of them, which is named AHP-TOPSIS. The old model is built as: First, use the AHP to determine the weight of each factor on the coach’s evaluation. Then, use TOPSIS to rank the coaches. After ana- lyzing the result of the old model, we draw a conclusion that the weight vector calculated by AHP is subjective. Therefore, we decide to find a more objective method.Next, we build a totally new evaluation method based on the Entropy and AHP, which is named Composite Weight-TOPSIS (CWTOPSIS). The AHP is a representative of calculating subjective weight, which ignores the ob- jective factors. The Entropy is a representative of calculating objective weight. It depends on objec- tive numerical indicators, but ignores the relevant experts experience and subjective judgment. So we introduced the preference factor β to combine them together. We compare the results of the two models, and we can see the improved one has more advantages. Then, we take other factors into consideration: time the coach coaches and gender of the coach. We analyze them separately, and draw the conclusion that the time factor does affect the evaluation result and the gender factor has little influence on the final result.
