Biodiversität Von Schmetterlingen (Lepidoptera) Im Gebiet Des Naturparks Schlern
Gredleriana Vol. 7 / 2007 pp. 233 - 306 Biodiversität von Schmetterlingen (Lepidoptera) im Gebiet des Naturparks Schlern Peter Huemer Abstract Biodiversity of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) of the Schlern nature park (South Tyrol, Italy) The species diversity of Lepidoptera within the Schlern nature park has been explored during the vegetation periods 2006 and 2007. Altogether 1030 species have been observed in 16 sites, covering about one third of the entire fauna from the province of South Tyrol. Fifteen additional species have been collected during the diversity day 2006 whereas further 113 species date back to historical explorations. The species inventory includes 20 new records for South Tyrol which are briefly reviewed. Among these speciesMicropterix osthelderi, Rhigognostis incarnatella and Cydia cognatana are the first proved records from Italy. Further two species from the surroundings of the Park include the first published records ofPhyllonorycter issikii and Gelechia sestertiella for Italy. Site specific characteristics of Lepidoptera coenosis are discussed in some detail. Historical aspects of lepidopterological exploration of the Schlern are briefly introduced. Keywords: Lepidoptera, faunistics, biodiversity, Schlern, South Tyrol, Italy 1. -

Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -

Preliminary Work on the Moth Fauna (Lepidoptera: Heterocera) of Kazdağı National Park – II (Turkey)
Preliminary work on the moth fauna (Lepidoptera: Heterocera) of Kazdağı National Park – II (Turkey) Selma Seven Abstract. In this study, moth specimens collected from Kazdağı National Park are evaluated and 32 taxa belonging to 12 families are identified. All of the species have been recorded for the first time from Kazdağı National Park. Syndemis musculana (Hübner, [1799]), known from Turkey with uncertain locality record, has been recorded with an exact locality for the first time. The distribution in Turkey of Pancalia schwarzella (Fabricius, 1798) and Eudonia mercurella (Linnaeus, 1758) are discussed. Pyrausta ostrinalis (Hübner, 1796) is recorded for the first time for the Turkish Crambidae fauna. Introduction: This paper is the 13"' in a series of publications1, dealing with the composition of the present-day fauna of the families Momphidae, Batrachedridae, Stathmopodidae, Blastobasidae, Agonoxenidae, Cosmopterigidae, and Chrysopeleiidae in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This region comprises of the administrative divisions of Astrakhan-, Volgograd-, Saratov-, Samara-, Uljanovsk-, Orenburg-, Uralsk- and Atyraus-(=Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bashkiria. As was accepted in previous parts of this series, only material reliably labelled and spanning mostly the last 25-50 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. A nikin (Saratov and Astrakhan Distr. and Kalmyk Republic), S. Sachkov (Samara Distr.) and V. Z olotuhin (Uljanovsk and Astrakhan Distr.). All the data from the XIX and early XX centuries was taken into account but only as a reference (E versm ann , 1844; R ebel, 1901; K rulikowsky , 1908; K rulikovsky , 1915; see also other parts of the cycle). -
Pancalia Schwarzella in Devon (R J Heckford
2010, Entomologist’s Gazette 61: 159–170 A further note on the biology of Pancalia schwarzella (Fabricius, 1798) (Lepidoptera: Cosmopterigidae) and a consideration of English records R. J. HECKFORD 67 Newnham Road, Plympton, Plymouth, Devon PL7 4AW,U.K. S. D. BEAVAN The Hayes, Zeal Monachorum, Devon EX17 6DF,U.K. Synopsis Prior to 2004, when larvae were found at four localities in Scotland in 2004 and 2005, the early stages of Pancalia schwarzella (Fabricius, 1798) appear to have been unknown. Since publication of that discovery in 2006 we are not aware of larvae being found elsewhere in the British Isles. During mid to late July 2008 we found larvae and adults at Braunton Burrows, Devon (V.C. 4), an area of extensive sand dunes. This appears to be a rather late record of the adult, at least at a low elevation, the first county record and apparently the first record from England for over 50 years. Key words: Lepidoptera, Cosmopterigidae, Pancalia schwarzella, England, Braunton Burrows, sand dunes, Viola spp., biology. Introduction Adults of both Pancalia schwarzella (Fabricius, 1798) and P. leuwenhoekella (Linnaeus, 1761) are very similar and sometimes occur together. The main macroscopic distinguishing character is the antenna; that of both sexes of P. leuwenhoekella and the female of P. schwarzella is dark fuscous with a white subapical section whereas that of the male of P. schwarzella lacks the white subapical section. The species are separable on the genitalia. It was probably not until the early part of the last century, at least in the British Isles, that the correct association of the sexes of the two species was made. -
