Moved Julie McDonald, seconded Ken Haggerty, that the minutes be accepted. Carried. 3. Business Arising from the Minutes 3.1 Aussie Farmers Direct, advertise ongoing 3.2 VJB email address is now up and running. 3.3 Seeding Guidelines, Gobi ongoing 3.4 BV By Laws VJB Committee Julie and Pat are reviewing this document ongoing 3.5 VJB run tournaments – suggest a roster of parents/list tasks/allocate jobs 3.6 Rankings for Victorian Junior Teams – Julie to seek clarification from Badminton Australia re this issue. 3.7 Guide on how to enter online and how to create a backup, tabled. 3.9 2012 Team Events, Reps to vote at March meeting for format after discussions within their regions. 4.0 Correspondence Incoming 4.1 BV recommendations of change to Exemption Policy and Selection Criteria were agreed to. 4. Exemptions will only be granted for the following reasons:- (a) Players who are competing for Australia in a Badminton Australia approved event. Note:- National Squad Training does not constitute exemption from State Competition or Team Training. (b) Injury with a medical/physiotherapy certificate, which should also include the ability to be fit by the National Competition date. (c) Other requests for exemption will be considered on an individual basis. Please note that all players requiring an exemption for the above reasons must e-mail the Victorian Junior Badminton Committee [email protected] 1 VJB Committee – 21 st February 2012 2 3. SELECTION CRITERIA 3.1 To have played in three (3) of the nominated tournaments in their category 3.2 To maximise their opportunity for selection by competing in more than one discipline (Singles, Doubles, Mixed). 4.2 The closing date for under age team nominations will also be the closing date for exemptions (to be noted on the U15 form). Outgoing 4.3 From VJB Secretary acknowledging CBA’s offer of donation with thanks. 5.0 REPORTS 5.1 Finance . The Treasurer’s Income/Expenditure report was circulated and Ken Haggerty moved and Ron Gray seconded the report be received. Pat to notify players once approved, Under 19 Teams Much discussion re U19 teams venue/accommodation Under 15 Teams 5.3 Regional Reports WSBA reported an increase in the numbers of Juniors attending Friday Night Junior Pennant, now mid 60s Ballarat reported a small increase in Juniors. School Clinics in April will target many new players. Peejade Cheng was elected unopposed as President of Badminton Victoria for the next two years, Ron Gray and Paul Kern were re-elected to the board and I would like to welcome Rochelle Liyanage from SEBA to the board. The President summarised the past years achievements, highlighted some of the challenges ahead and acknowledged the contribution made by all our committees and volunteers throughout the past year. The final formality of the AGM was to install Mrs Pat Daw as a Life Member of Badminton Victoria. Pat has worked tirelessly for Badminton for over 40 years; Peejade highlighted Pat’s dedication to our sport and presented Pat’s Life Membership.
