The box tree moth, Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) comb. n., is native to India, China, Korea, Japan and the Rus- sian Far East. Its larvae are a serious pest of different species of Buxus. Recently, C. perspectalis was introduced into Europe and first recorded from Germany in 2006. This species has been placed in various spilomeline genera including Palpita Hübner, 1808, Diaphania Hübner, 1818, Glyphodes Guenée, 1854 and the monotypic Neoglyphodes Streltzov, 2008. In order to solve this nomen- clatural confusion and to find a reasonable and verifiable generic placement for the box tree moth, the morphology of the above mentioned and some additional spilomeline taxa was investigated and their phylogeny analysed. The results show that C. perspec- talis belongs to a monophylum that includes three of the genera in which it was previously placed: Glyphodes, Diaphania and Pal- pita. Within this monophylum, it is closely related to the Asian Cydalima Lederer, 1863. As a result of this analysis, Sisyrophora Lederer, 1863 syn. rev. and Neoglyphodes Streltzov, 2008 syn. -

The result showed that diversity of moths at this area was lower (100 species of 12 families; H’ = 6.643, E = 0.794) than that in secondary rain forest Busang River (278 species of 19 families; H’ = 8.139, E = 0.831). The result also showed that the similarity index (Cj) of the two areas was very low (0.05). Geometridae, Noctuidae, and Pyralidae were dominant in both areas. Adults of the pest were fi rst spotted in six locations around the country from October 2013 until April 2015, when infestation was also detected (mid April). The information is based on the moth surveys done from September 05-06, 2016 and October Jalil Ahmad 09-10, 2016. Identification yielded a total of 74 species under 66 genera of 15 different families of moths. Zoological Survey of India, Family Erebidae is found to be dominating. Seven species are reported for the first time from Gangetic Gangetic Plains Regional Centre plains whereas, all the included species are the new records for the sanctuary as the Topchanchi WLS Sector-8, Bahadurpur Housing was surveyed for the first time for the diversity of moths. L. AGASSIZ Abstract The arrival of Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) (Lep.: Crambidae) in the British Isles in 2007 and its subsequent geographical spread to the end of 2018 are documented. Earliest reports might relate to wandering adults from Europe, but the establishment of a breeding population is most likely a consequence of accidental importation of pre- imaginal stages in association with the larval foodplant of Box, primarily Buxus sempervirens, which is also a native British tree. Once established the adults are capable of significant dispersal, in both sexes, so that continued range expansion does not depend on further importations. The spread of the species from 2007 to 2018 is illustrated by a series of distribution maps. The moth now affects all of England apart from the far north- west and has established a foothold in both South and North Wales, though much of that Principality is, apparently, unaffected at present. In Scotland, the moth is known from the south-east in Fifeshire, but is likely to spread. The pest status and potential control measures are discussed briefly.
