The first two signees for the program were local products Seth Prochaska of Edna, and Stiven Ospina of Victoria. Head coach Adrian Rigby‟s first squad will consist of 30 players. Men‟s soccer is one of four athletic programs that UHV currently offers. The other three are baseball, softball and golf. A total of 220 teams compete in men‟s soccer in the NAIA and comprise 25 different confer- ences, including the Association of Independ- ent Institutions in which UHV is a member. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is the defending men‟s NAIA national champion after defeating The Master‟s (Calif.) last year 1-0 in the title game. HISTORY UHV begins its inaugural men‟s soccer program in the fall of 2010 with head coach Adrian Rigby. The sport is one of four athletic programs currently offered by UHV. UHV instituted its athletic pro- gram four years ago with baseball and softball and now brings on soccer as well as golf. The Jaguars will begin play on their own athletic field located on the UHV campus and look to con- tinue the success their other ath- letic programs have enjoyed since 2008. 4-2010 JAGUARS MEN’S SOCCER UHV freshman Ryan Rounsaville heads a shot. 2010 SEASON OUTLOOK SEASON OUTLOOK With 22 freshmen on the roster in the UHV Jaguars inaugural season it might just be easy for opponents to overlook the up-start program in 2010. With his young team, coach Adrian Rigby made sure the competition level would be highly competi- tive with seven NCAA schools on the list, includ- ing four Division II schools and three Division III. The Jaguars will also go up against seven NAIA schools including 16th- rank UT-Brownsville. The Jaguars will open the season on the road against NCAA Division II foe St. Mary‟s University, before hosting three straight home games against Concordia-Austin, Huston-Tillotson and Texas Lutheran. The Jaguars will also host Our Lady of the Lake, UT-Brownsville, Hill College, the University of Mobile and Houston St. Thomas, while they will have road games against Schreiner University, Huston- Tillotson, OLLU, St. Thomas, Texas A&M-International, St. Edward‟s University, the College of the Southwest, Ouachita Baptist University and LSU-Shreveport. The squad should be tested each and every time out as it works toward its goal of the NAIA National Tournament to be held Nov. 29—Dec. 4 in Orange Beach, Iowa.
