Just what is Voice over IP? Voice over IP (VoIP) stands for the complete integration of telephony into the IP network. Voice data is transported in the form of IP packets, meaning that it can be transmitted via the computer network into the Internet and received by a caller. Specialized VoIP telephones convert your voice into data packets. This conversion can be also carried out for existing analog or ISDN telephones by a VoIP router. Apart from that, it is also possible to combine your conventional PBX (private branch exchange) system with VoIP. This means that you can continue to use your old PBX system, and yet you can upgrade your telephone network with Voice over IP.
