  • Keller Williams
Keller Williams Keller Williams released his first album in 1994, FREEK, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ, SPUN, BREATHE, LOOP, LAUGH, HOME, DANCE, STAGE, GRASS, DREAM, TWELVE, LIVE, ODD, THIEF, KIDS, BASS, PICK, FUNK, VAPE, SYNC, RAW, SANS and Add, those who have followed his career will know this. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. GRASS, for example, is a bluegrass recording cut with the husband-wife duo The Keels. STAGE is a live album, and DREAM is the realization of Keller’s wish to collaborate with some of his musical heroes. THIEF is a set of unexpected cover songs, KIDS offers Keller’s first children’s record, PICK presents Keller’s collaboration with royal bluegrass family The Travelin’ McCoury’s, and RAW is a solo acoustic album. Each album showcases Keller’s comprehensive and diverse musical endeavors and functions to provide another piece of the jigsaw puzzle that is Keller Williams. Keller’s collaborative and solo albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Unbeholden to conventionalism, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is astounding and novel music that encompasses rock, jazz, funk and bluegrass, and always keeps the audience on their feet. Since he first appeared on the scene in the early ’90s, Williams has defined the term independent artist. And his recordings tell only half the story. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo.

  • DENVER.COM (4/17) Q&A: Keith Moseley of the String Cheese
DENVER.COM (4/17) Q&A: Keith Moseley of the String Cheese Incident By Nicholas Hutchinson Bassist Keith Moseley, a founding member of the Boulder-based band The String Cheese Incident, also holds down the low end for a few side projects including The WMD’s (aka Keller Williams with Moseley, Droll and Sipe) and the innovative bluegrass tribute band Grateful Grass, which includes Keller Williams and Jeff Austin of Yonder Mountain String Band. Keith lives north of Denver in Longmont, with his wife and two daughters and enjoys all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer. You were born in Oklahoma. How did you find your way to Colorado? I came to Colorado after graduating from college. I attended San Diego State and finished up there in 1988. Then I moved to Colorado to ski. I thought I was just going to have a little ski adventure but I wound up staying. Can you tell me a bit about the beginning of the String Cheese Incident? The band started in Crested Butte in the winter of 1993. That’s pretty much when we started playing our first gigs. Billy (Nershi) had been living in Telluride for many years and in the winter of ’93 he popped over to Crested Butte to check it out. He was living in an old school bus, which he parked in front of the house owned by our drummer Michael Travis. I think Michael Kang might have lived in that bus for a while too. One thing led to another and we all started jamming together.

CORAL CREEK BIOGRAPHY: CORAL CREEK is a Colorado-based Americana/Country-Rock/Jamgrass band that features the original songs of Chris Thompson & Bill McKay (formerly of Leftover Salmon and Derek Trucks Band) – performing original songs as well as Americana classics by The Band, Grateful Dead, Peter Rowan, Neil Young, etc. ---------------------------------------- CORAL CREEK opens a new chapter this fall, releasing and touring in support of a breakthrough album produced by Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth. The self-titled album, CORAL CREEK, marks the beginning of a new era for the Colorado-based Americana/Jamgrass band, as the first release with standout keyboard player Bill McKay and Grammy Award Winning fiddle player, Luke Bulla. McKay, best know for his roles with Leftover Salmon and Derek Trucks Band, joins songwriter/guitarist Chris Thompson at center stage, singing leads and contributing to the bands extensive repertoire of original material. CORAL CREEK is a Colorado band on the rise, featuring a diverse catalog of original music spanning the genres of rock, country/bluegrass, cajun, folk and island music. While the new self-titled album sits squarely in the Americana category, CORAL CREEK live performances transport audiences from the beaches of the Caribbean, down to the bayou and back up high into the Colorado Rockies – with instrumentation ranging from mandolin and fiddle to congas and steel pan. The counter-balance to McKay’s fiery piano is the acoustic guitar of singer/songwriter Chris Thompson, stylistically blazing new trails inspired by Jerry Garcia and Tony Rice. Rob Garland (bass) and Jack Watson (drums) lock down the rhythm section, while Nathan Peoples elevates the music with a soaring bluegrass saxo- fiddle and high lonesome vocals.

  • 2017 Delfest Program
WELCOME! Hi Folks. Welcome to DelFest. It seems impossible that this is the 10th annual event. I’m grateful and humbled that you continue to support what we do, and hope you appreciate the effort and time that goes into an event like this. Leading up to this year’s festival, we’ve been focusing heavily on the theme of “Family Reunion” and to us that’s what DelFest is. We see many familiar faces each year, some that have been coming to shows for 20+ years, along with some of our newer family - folks from local government, fans, friends, and supporters (especially the ones we call Del’s Army). We feel very fortunate that choosing the town of Cumberland brought you into our lives. We are glad to know each and everyone of you, and want to say a tremendous thank you for all of your support. While community is a big part of it, the music is where it starts. We are glad to have some of your favorites from the first nine DelFests back this year including Trey Anastasio Band, Railroad Earth, Steep Canyon Rangers, and our ever-present emcee, Joe Craven. We are also excited to bring our good friend Marty Stuart and his wonderful band to DelFest for the first time. We also have a few special surprises in store for you that we hope will make number 10 unforgettable. So, let me close by saying, remember we are all Family. We are joined by the love of music and community. I ask that you please keep that in mind as you go through the weekend and treat everyone like family..

2 2017 Nederland Music and Arts Festival Welcome to the 19th annual Nederland Music and Arts We like to call it Colorado’s most intimate music festival because spectators are never more than 200 feet from the stage and anyone can get right up to the front and see the artists’ faces and fingers. No Jumbotron needed! There is room to dance and hula-hoop or just lay back and look at the sky and enjoy the wonderful music. We have some great artist booths this year. There are several yummy choices for delectable dinners, three breweries, and a meadery to tempt your taste buds. Our long-time sponsor Indian Peaks Spring Water has all the wonderful water you need (bring your water bottle!) so make sure to stay hydrated while having fun! If you have little ones with you, make sure you don’t miss our special kid’s tent with face painting and fun stuff to do while at the fest. We have a fantastic mix of music for you this year, so whether you want to dance your days and nights away or just sit back and relax, we’ve got a fantastic weekend for you! The NedFest Staff The Peak to Peak Music Education Association organizes and hosts the Nederland Music and Arts Festival, more commonly known as NedFest. The PPMEA was formed in 2011 following the death of NedFest founder “Michigan Mike” Torpie to continue the festival and use its resources to support music education programs for local kids. It received full recognition as a 501(c)3 organization in 2014.

!1 !2 20 Years, Really? Memories of a band of eager recruits sitting around a booth at the Pioneer Inn are still clear. Michigan Mike (Torpie) had organized a trial-ballon of a festival in 1996 in Chipeta Park and wanted to go bigger. Mike had been a college radio DJ in Michigan when Leftover Salmon caught his ear, prompting him to follow the band as an unofficial videographer and eventually move to Nederland. He had been booking and promoting shows in Nederland for a few years when he put on the Chipeta Park show. August 9, 1999. These labels are designed to print on the NEATO 180955 pre-perforated cd labels & card stock! They include appoximately 1/4 inch extra “bleed” around the perforations, in order to account for small differences in printers and software issues. If you print these labels on PLAIN PAPER, you will need to trim the extra bleed area away or they will not fit. Additionally, you should print these with Adobe Acrobat 7 (older versions may not produce the correct results), and you MUST make sure that the PAGE SCALING option is set to “NONE”. If you have PAGE SCALING set to “Fit To Printer Margins” or “Reduce to Printer Margins”, the graphics will not print at the correct size for the standard jewel case. • Todd Snider Was Rummaging Through His Mail During a Three-Way Cross-Country Phone Conversation in Early December, When Christmas Apparently Came Early
Todd Snider was rummaging through his mail during a three-way cross-country phone conversation in early December, when Christmas apparently came early. "Holy shit, I think someone just sent me a bunch of drugs," the funky folk singer-songwriter announced from Nashville. "That's mushrooms." David Schools, Snider's quick-thinking partner in the Hard Working Americans who's also the formidable force behind the Modulus Graphite bass as one of Widespread Panic's founding members, didn't miss a beat on a separate line from San Francisco. "Interview's over." Just another day in the life of a well-traveled troubadour served as quite an introduction to what could be one of the most intriguing configurations of 2014, a jelly-and-jam band with folk-you-up tendencies and Workingman's Deadhead blues moves. Hopefully, this will be the start of a beautiful friendship. These five original Hard Working Americans formed in mid-2013 to quickly record their deliriously dynamic self-titled first album that will be released January 21. Spending five days in Bob Weir's TRI Studios in San Rafael, California, they put their own stamp on reworked versions of 11 of Snider's favorite cover songs, with similar themes by roots artists as varied as Gillian Welch and Drivin' 'N Cryin'. They followed up their inaugural get-together by rehearsing a few days in Boulder, Colorado, ahead of their historic first live appearance, a benefit performance that was sponsored by George Boedecker, the man behind their new Melvin Records label. (David Schools, left, with Todd Snider.) Then they blasted through a loose, energetic show, modifying, extending and improvising while playing every album cut and more at the sold-out Boulder Theater on December 20.
