2018-19 SEASON SERIES

Thursday, October 25, 2018 – Boston 3, Flyers 0 at TD Garden: Jaroslav Halak denied 26 Flyers shots to anchor Boston’s 3-0 win. The game was scoreless through 33 minutes of play, thanks largely to several outstanding saves by Halak, before Zdeno Chara fired a shot that deflected in off a stick with seven minutes left in the second period. Then with about 3 ½ minutes to play, Jake DeBrusk deflected home a power play goal to give the Bruins the 2-0 lead. Chara added an empty netter later. Brian Elliott faced 25 shots on goal and stopped 23 of them. Stars of the Game: 1 – Jaroslav Halak; 2 – Zdeno Chara; 3 – Brandon Carlo.

Wednesday, January 15, 2019 – Flyers 4, Boston 3 at Wells Fargo Center: The Flyers used a hat trick to rebound from a two-goal deficit for the second consecutive game, this time taking a 4-3 decision over the Bruins. David Pastrnak and Peter Cehlarik combined to give Boston a 2-0 lead before the game was 10 minutes old, but Oskar Lindblom got one of those goals back with 7:16 left in the first period. Sean Couturier then scored the next three goals of the game, picking up a pair 1:15 apart in the second period and then completing the hat trick with 4:07 left in the third. Cehlarik scored another one with 1:06 left in the contest, but nothing else got by Carter Hart, who made 39 saves on the night. Jaroslav Halak turned away 15 for the Bruins. Stars of the Game: 1 – Sean Couturier; 2 – Carter Hart; 3 – Peter Cehlarik.

Thursday, January 31, 2019 – Flyers 3, Boston 2 (OT) at TD Garden: Travis Sanheim scored 2:56 into overtime on a power play to lift the Flyers to a 3-2, come-from-behind win over the Bruins. David Pastrnak gave Boston a one-goal lead twice, first when he scored on the power play 3:05 into the contest. Claude Giroux got that goal back with just under 44 seconds to go in the frame, and after Pastrnak added his second tally 5:11 into the second, Oskar Lindblom leveled the score on the power play with 9:24 left in the third period. The Flyers went on the power play just under a minute into the overtime session and Sanheim’s blast from the left circle beat Tuukka Rask right before that power play expired. Carter Hart turned away 23 of 25 Boston shots for the win, while Rask made 38 saves on 41 Flyer bids. Stars of the Game: 1 – Travis Sanheim; 2 – David Pastrnak; 3 – Tuukka Rask.

NOTES OF THE NIGHT

The Flyers have gone to extra time in four of their last five games. They’ve gone 3-1 in those four extra-time games, winning two in the shootout and one in overtime while dropping the 11-round shootout at home against Toronto on November 2.

The Flyers are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, with points in eight of those 10.

The Flyers (9-5-2, 20 pts) continue to pace their best start since 2011-12. That season, the Flyers were 9-4-3 for 21 points through 16 games.

Andy Andreoff was recalled by the Flyers Friday and made his Flyers debut last night. Andreoff has three goals and four assists for seven points in 10 games this season with Lehigh Valley. Andreoff was last in the NHL in 2017-18 when he played 45 games for Los Angeles.

Travis Konecny has a point in 13 of the 16 games this season, including four multi-point games, and has recorded separate point streaks of four and five games. He started the season with a four-game point streak, becoming the fourth-youngest Flyer to do so and the youngest since Eric Lindros in 1995-96.

The Flyers have operated at 92.3 percent (24 for 26) on the penalty kill over the last nine games. The kill has taken care of all situations it faced in seven of those eight games. There was one game in the stretch, Nov. 7 vs. Montreal, where the Flyers did not commit a penalty.

November is the busiest month of the season for the Flyers with 16 games on the schedule. Half of those 16 games are comprised of four sets of back-to-back contests. The Flyers play 14 of the 16 games against the Eastern Conference and six of the 16 against the Metropolitan Division.
