Roll Call: Trustees present were Marty Breitmeyer, Mitch Gerlinger, Greg Dennis, Jim Currivan, and Larry Johnson. Also present were Jim Hicks, Operations Manager; Maureen Sidley, Assistant to the Secretary; Cathy Glatthar, Assistant to the Board; and Louie Test, Legal Counsel. 2. Public Comment: Don Otto said regarding these horses being hit, he didn’t think any guilt should be thrown around because it can happen to anyone. He cited an example of a Deputy Sheriff who hit three horses on Highway 50; this can even happen to law enforcement. Larry Johnson said that’s different than here because the posted speed limit on that highway is 65 miles per hour. Susan Ambrose said there is a reckless driver of a black Dodge Challenger who uses a stretch of Ironwood as a drag strip. She said these are private roads and there’s nothing the Sheriff can do, but asked if the GID could do anything? Louie Test said they need to identify the driver and get the license plate number. He said reckless driving might be enforceable by the Sheriff; he said he would check into this. Pam Roberts said she is new to the Valley and lives off of Broken Spur. She presented the Board with a petition requesting the asphalt on Broken Spur be patched by the GID.

    ABSTRACT “Our Real Family, The One We Chose”: The Function of Comfort in the Sitcom Family Max Romanowski, M.A. Thesis Chairperson: James M. Kendrick, Ph.D. Throughout history, the situation comedy (or “sitcom”) has continually been used as a form of comfort for the viewer. The original sitcoms of the 1950s were filled with themes that reinforced the stability of the traditional family model after the cultural shifts during the world wars. While that style of sitcom and its family has changed, its function to viewers has largely remained the same. While it no longer is about reinforcing a traditional family structure, the sitcom does work to comfort the viewers that are watching. This study works to examine how and why the sitcom family has evolved, what the new sitcom family looks like today, and what that means for societal values. I've been looking at it like, between this Friday and the next Friday, it seems like it's getting shorter and shorter. I'm using my time right, but it's always that pursuit of happiness. There's more happiness, but the one you're looking for, I think, stays the same distance away. This world is different, but it's the same difference with another name. If I didn't play music from now on, I wouldn't be a musician-and I'm gonna hang in there whatever happens. I'm still doing music, and still representative of the truth. I like playing with everybody, but I can only harmonize with a few. If everybody from the old band could afford to get together and stay together for about a month and then go to play gigs, that would be cool. We do love to play with each other.
