CEO HOLDS MEET WITH POLITICAL PARTIES Urges for initiative on Special Summary Revision

The Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Kunal, IAS held a meeting with representatives of political parties urging for initiative on Special Summary Revision, 2022 and to improve the health of Electoral Rolls by enrolling all eligible citizens and deleting the dead/absentees/ shifted voters as per ECI guidelines. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Electoral Officer Shri Kunal, IAS. Shri Narayan Sawant, Additional CEO, Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, Additional Collector I South , Smt Mamu Hange, Additional CEO North Goa, Smt Aisha Vaingainkar, Jt CEO, and Smt Sangeeta Naik, Dy CEO were present on the occasion. The meeting deliberated on the schedule for the Special Summary Revision, 2022 and Summary Revision of last part of Electoral rolls relating to Service Voters, 2022, Appointment of BLAs, Special drive for marking of Persons with Disabilities and Medical Camps for certification. CEO Shri Kunal underscoring on the objective of the drive is to register maximum eligible electors especially left out youth, removing duplicate entries, shifted electors, and to correct errors in the electors informed that the booth Level Officers (BLOs),willundertake house to house visits to collect the inf ormation during the period. The target intervention will be Youth electors who will be attaining 18 years of age as on 01/01/2022, the overseas electors who can also be enrolled in the electoral roll under Form 6A, the Person with Disabilities for maximizing their enrolment and also marking their entries in the electoral data base he added. Shri Kunal sought their cooperation in the revision process by appointing Booth level agents. He stated that the copies of the draft and final roll will be shared with the recognized political parties as per the mandate of the ECI. Shri Kunal informed that the ECI has also declared a schedule for revision of the last part of the electoral rolls related to the Service Voters. Various activities will be taken up for maximizing the enrollment of the service voters by interacting with various Military Camps, Naval Bases stationed in Goa. CEO also stated that the Office of the CEO has planned special drive for maximizing enrollment and marking of Person with Disabilities (PwDs) in the electoral roll from 16/08/2021 to 06/09/2021 to ensure a proper election experience to the PwDs in upcoming elections as it is pre- requisite that a sound data base of PwDs electors is required to be maintained. The drive shall be conducted by the EROs in collaboration with various Government departments like Social Welfare Department, Public Health Department, Education Department, Employment Exchange, Directorate of Women & Child etc. The various parent groups and NGOs of Goa are also hand holding agencies in this drive. Since, the certificate of disability is a pre-requisite for availing postal ballot facilities by the PwDs, CEO office in collaboration with Public Health Department and Directorate of Social Welfare have organized district level camps to be held at Asilo Hospital, Mapusa on 16/08/2021 and Hospicio Hospital, n 17/08/2021. The PwDs who are identified by the BLOs can visit these camps and availed the facilities from the Medical Authorities who are competent to certify the disability. Shri Kunal sharing the information about new initiative by ECI, said this time the Postal Ballot facilities to the absentee voters like Person with Disabilities (PwDs), Senior Citizen in the age group of 80+ years, Covid-19 suspect and affected person will be made available. These categories of electors may choose to vote with a Postal ballot over the option of voting at the Polling station if they so desire. ECI in order to streamline the election process have introduced the single window system (Web-portal) for management and monitoring of the entire election process right from nomination to the result declaration through “SUVIDHA”. Suvidha consists of modules for candidate nomination, permission, voter turnout, counting and result section etc. and it handles General and by-elections for LokSabha and Legislative Assembly. Shri Kunal also appealed to all the Political parties to appoint Booth Level Agent at all the polling booth and requested to furnish the list to the District Election Officer for better coordination with election machinery during the Special Summary Revision. Representatives of Political Parties appreciated the efforts made by CEO Goa for smooth functioning of election process. The representatives of Political parties who attended the meeting were Shri Altinho Gomes, Vice President of Party, Shri Pundalik Raut Desai, Bhartiya , Shri Sandeep Vernekar, Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party and Shri Durgadas Kamat, Vice President of Goa Forward Party. Special Summary Revision with qualifying dates 01/01/2022 has been declared by the Election Commission of India. The scheduled for various stages of special summary revision of Photo electoral roll 2022 is as follows: Publication of Integrated draft Electoral Rolls is on November 01, 2021, Period of filing claims and objections on November 01, 2021 to November 30, 2021, Special camp dates are November 20 and 27, 2021 (Saturday ) and November 21 and 28, 2021 (Sunday), Disposal of claims and objections by December 20, 2021 and Final publication of Electoral Roll by January 05, 2022.

Voters are also informed that services being offered under Special Summary Revision are available at online portal i.e. NVSP http:/ /www.nvsp.in & on http: //eci.nic.in which can be accessed at a click of a button.
