2 Springin Barnes The BCA Prospect team share what's special about spring in Barnes and which local treats they hope to receive from the Easter bunny...

Prospect & BCA Barnes Fairs Organiser about our new BCA Dog Walk "Longer days mean longer dog walks and our favourite Sunday morning stroll takes us along on 24 April! the river, where we admire the precariously (See page 6) balanced heronry in one particular plane tree. We continue up to Hammersmith Bridge, cross back down Queen Elizabeth Walk and stop at Barnes Express for the Sunday papers and a croissant.

What I’d really like for Easter... For Easter I will happily settle for a Creme Egg from Natsons and one of these silver leaf print scarves from Bazar, in duck egg blue - appropriately."

Julia Bebington Prospect contributor & BCA Office Manager "Spring is a time when everyone starts coming out of hibernation! So it’s always a good time to meet up with friends over a spot of lunch and a bottle of wine - government restrictions allowing! There are so many lovely local eateries - though the black spaghetti with prawns at Arte Chef is one of my favourites - I missed it so much during lockdown!

What I’d really like for Easter... I would love a bunch of white hyacinths. Or a big bunch of tulips - my favourites are parrot tulips in a fresh spring white or a vibrant pinky red. Sun Inn Flowers sells a wonderful selection."

3 Farrah & Pearce Sophie Farrah & Tom Pearce Prospect designers & contributors "We are huge animal lovers and springtime in Barnes is wonderful for wildlife spotting. We're lucky enough to have lots of birds in the garden (who often nest in our electricity meter box!), we love going to the Wetlands Centre to see the otters, ducks and more, and of course all the new life on the pond is just lovely to witness.

What we’d really like for Easter... We'd love some freshly-baked hot cross buns from GAIL's or The Parish Bakery, and some delicious loose leaf tea from Orange Pekoe. A match made in heaven!"

Leyla Hutchings Prospect subeditor & BCA Membership Secretary "I am always cheered by the rows of brilliant daffodils on Barnes Green - courtesy of the BCA Greenkeeper and his team of bulb-planting volunteers. Such an uplifting sight as we leave the winter behind us.

What I’d really like for Easter... I shall be treating myself to a Ginger Spice fresh juice from Dolce Crema - its sunny colours will echo the golden flowers and hopefully counteract the Easter chocolate!"

Emma Robinson Town Centre Manager and co-ordinator of the amazing volunteer efforts for the Barnes Covid-19 vaccination centre "I just love spring in Barnes. For me it is about longer days, spring flowers, warmer weather and Easter treats. We are privileged to have so many gorgeous walks to enjoy where we can watch nature come to life. I also love St Michael’s services at Easter time with the children. Don’t miss the BCA Virtual What I’d really like for Easter... Duck Race on For me, Easter is about chocolate.
