With the support of the kindly local Bishop who sees in him a great deal more than others, and by a series of miraculous incidents, the simple but pious Joseph is ordained a priest. Yet some are convinced that it is the devil, not God, who is responsible for Joseph’s miraculous powers – until a final miracle reveals to all his true sanctity. IGNATIUS NIGHT AT THE MOVIES PRESENTS JOSEPH OF NAZARETH: The Story of the Man Closest to Christ Ignatius Press is pleased to offer this incredible opportunity for you and your parish, shrine, university, school or conference center to partner with Ignatius Press in the North American special Ignatius Night at the Movies program featuring JOSEPH OF NAZARETH: The Story of the Man Closest to Christ. Ignatius Press, one of the world’s leading Catholic publishers, is delighted to offer the DVD version of this exceptionally inspirational and powerful dramatic film, as part of this exclusive Movie Night package and as an excellent means of whole- community catechesis and entertainment as well as a superb fundraising tool. Hundreds of parishes, shrines, schools and universities across the United States and Canada have already participated in these exciting, entertaining, faith-enhancing, fundraising events. Now you can once again, or for the first time, be a part of this unique opportunity to reach out to and spiritually inspire fellow parishioners, students, and the surrounding community by teaching the truths of the Catholic faith, and educating about this extraordinary saint: Joseph, the spouse of the Mother of God, the foster father of Jesus, the man closest to Christ. You will be able to present this amazing film on the “Big Screen”— right in your own church or school. JOSEPH OF NAZARETH: The Story of the Man Closest to Christ is the first feature film ever produced on the story of St. Joseph – carpenter, husband of Mary and the chosen father of Jesus Christ. This movie will carry the viewer back in time 2,000 years to the dusty little town of Nazareth for a glimpse inside the life of the “just man” Joseph, guardian of the Redeemer, protector of the Holy Family. Although not a single word of Joseph’s was ever written, viewers will have the opportunity to personally come to know this humble man who struggled to understand the profound mysteries of the divine conception, virgin birth and the Incarnation of the Son of God, and the incredible challenges of protecting and raising Jesus amidst the threats on His life from the moment of His birth. Tobias Moretti stars in a masculine and appealing performance, showing the human, noble and deeply spiritual aspects of Joseph the carpenter, son of David, servant of God and loving husband of Mary. The role of Mary is eloquently played by Stefania Rivi. This DVD is 100 minutes in length and is only in English with the option of viewing Spanish subtitles.
