END 2 PROJEK LAPANGAN TERBANG ANTARABANGSA KULIM (KXP) DAN KEDAH AEROTROPOLIS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KXP PROJECT BRIEF INTRODUCTION The State Government of Kedah intends to develop and establish a new international airport for the northern region with a vision that this airport will become a major air transport hub, serving the states of Kedah, Penang, Perlis, and Perak, and the southern provinces of Thailand. This new international airport, to be called Kulim International Airport (KXP), is one of the seven (7) megaprojects approved by the Federal Government of Malaysia as officially announced by The Hon. Minister of Economic Affairs on 18 March 2019. With this announcement, the State Government of Kedah is now able to engage and negotiate with the private sector to fund the KXP Project via a Private Funding Initiative. LOCATION The proposed KXP development site is located in Kuala Muda District between the town of Sungai Petani, Kulim, and Kuala Ketil (Baling District) in the state of Kedah. The distances from the proposed site and major townships are as follows: • 5 km to Kuala Ketil, Kedah • 13 km to Sungai Petani, Kedah • 23 km to Kulim, Kedah • 14 km to Bertam, Seberang Perai, Penang The elevation of the proposed site above sea level is between 11 and 34 meters. The general land use within the proposed 9200-acre site are oil palm plantations, rubber plantations, village areas, estates housing, small-and-medium factories and poultry farming. DEVELOPMENT DETAILS District : Kuala Muda Mukim (county) : Sidam Kiri State : Kedah Darul Aman Local Authority : Majlis Perbandaran Sungai Petani (MPSPK) 3 ROLE OF KXP The KXP Project will enhance the core development of major towns in the vicinity, such as Sungai Petani (Kuala Muda district) and Kulim. Sungai Petani, the largest town in the state of Kedah by population, has its economic activities focused on manufacturing and service-based industries. The municipality is supported by the provision of adequate accommodation, office space and residences, as well as the provision of comfortable community, sport, golf, and recreational facilities. Kulim, with the establishment of Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), is well known for its high- tech manufacturing infrastructures and is a production base for numerous world- renowned multi-nationals companies involved in semiconductor wafer fabrication, photovoltaic solar, and advanced E &E. Other than high-tech manufacturing, Kulim is also known for its automotive (Padang Meha) and medical device clusters (KHTP, Kulim Industrial Estate). PAST STUDIES DONE BY LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANTS As far back as 2015, three (3) different studies have been conducted to ascertain the feasibility and sustainability of KXP. The local and international consultants who undertook such consultancy projects and preliminary study were: 1. KLIA Consultancy Services 2. KPMG Corporate Advisory 3. KXP AirportCIty Holdings The studies recommended the building of a new international airport for the northern region with multiple runways to cater for the growing air travel market for the next 50- 100 years. Interested consultants/contractors will be allowed to view the above studies upon signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and after being shortlisted under Stage 1: Pre-Qualification exercise (see below). PRE-QUALIFICATION AND TENDER EXERCISES The appointment of consultants or contractors for KXP's upcoming tender packages will most probably be done via a two stage selection processes: Stage 1: Pre-Qualification (Pre-Q Stage) Stage 2: Invitation-to-Bid (I-T-B Stage) 4 Stage 1: Pre-Qualification (Pre-Q) Stage During the Pre-Q Stage, interested consultants or contractors (hereinafter referred to as "bidders") are required to submit information on their company profile, past experiences, key personnel, registration with relevant authorities, bank statements, audited accounts, etc. All submissions by the bidders will be evaluated based on a list of criteria with pre-determined weightages. Next, the total weighted-score of all submissions will be ranked (from highest to lowest). Finally, KXP AirportCity's board of directors will decide (or shortlist) only certain number of top-ranked companies to participate in the next actual tender process, i.e the Invitation-to-Bid (I-T-B Stage) Stage. [Note: It should also be noted that the board may accept all submissions during this Pre-Q stage, if all the interested bidders are deemed competent]. Stage 2: Invitation-to-Bid (I-T-B Stage) During this I-T-B Stage, only shortlisted bidders (after the Pre-Q Stage)will be given the relevant, detailed I-T-B tender document to prepare tender bids. Companies that were not shortlisted (in other words, disqualified) in the Pre-Q stage will not have the opportunity to participate further in the bid for that particular tender package. Disqualified bidders may participate in other tender packages. The I-T-B document will specify: • Scope of Work/Scope of Supply for the tender package ("project") • Detailed technical specification for the project • Deliverables. • Duration to complete project • Draft contract The bidder in turn will prepare price quotation in Ringgit Malaysia,confirm duration to complete the project, and indicate deviations from specifications as listed in the tender document. Submissions will be done in two separate packages; • Technical Proposal,and • Financial Proposal, since two separate committees will evaluate the I-T-B submissions.after the specified deadline. The appointment of the successful bidders will be decided by KXP AirportCity's board of directors. However, it should be noted that KXP AirportCity reserves the right to appoint any bidder (and it may not necessarily be the bidder with the lowest price). 5 KXP AirportCityalso reserves the right not to appoint any bidder at all, without having to provide any written or oral explanation. Accepted 23 December, 2010 Adult stoneflies (Plecoptera) were light-trapped monthl from January to December 2008 in Tupah River, Kedah, Malaysia. Two families of Plecoptera, Perlidae and Nemouridae were represented with nine species. More Plecoptera was collected in the wet seasons especially for the family Nemouridae. Neoperla asperata was a common species that occurred throughout the year. Neoperla fallax was equally common but this species was absent during early part of the year. The percentage of females was higher than male for all species of Plecoptera collected. Key words: Upstream river, Plecoptera, season, sex ratio, peninsular Malaysia. Although the history of the monarchy is not widespread, the epic Merong Mahawangsa is said to be part of this historical background. The Kedah Al Tarikh Salasilah is in fact more histographic in nature; unfortunately, not all the historical events of the state was recorded. Focusing on Kedah’s history could help draw out the events which are still unsolved and can be said as questionable. The disappearance of the name Lubuk Pusing Town in Kuala Muda district, for instance, is one of the issues frequently mentioned. The commission of the government ship which also belonged to the Sultan has yet to be answered. The death of Kedah warriors which led to their invisibility in the history books has made this aspect of history an interesting area to be examined. Abstract In Malaysia the family has been the main institution caring for the aged. However, the processes of development, directly or indirectly, have impacted the size, functions and structure of the family unit, which subsequently impacted the family intergenerational relationships and communication. This study is about the intergenerational relationships and communication specifically among the rural aged with their family members. The main objective is to further understand the relationship of the aged with those around them and its contribution to productive and quality ageing process. Survey was the main method used in the study and was conducted among 200 older persons residing in the rural area of mukim Sungai Petani, in the district of Kuala Muda, Kedah, Malaysia.

ABSTRACT Seasonal changes in Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera (EPT) community was studied at rivers in Gunung Jerai Forest Reserve, Kedah, Malaysia. The rivers were visited monthly from September 2007 to August 2008 to sample aquatic insects using D-pond nets. More EPT were found in the wet season (10664 individuals) compared with the dry season (6599 individuals). In all rivers, ephemeropteran populations was highest during the wet season (z=-2.465, p=0.014). Meanwhile, the plecopteran population was low and almost constant throughout seasons in all rivers (z=-2.280, p=0.023). Trichopterans exhibited the highest peak of abundance in the dry season (z=-6.096, p=0.00). Concomitantly, higher diversity was recorded in the dry season (29 taxa) compared with 25 taxa recorded in wet season from all rivers. Tupah River had the most diverse EPT assemblage during the dry season. In wet season, the abundance of ephemeropterans genera such as Baetis, Platybaetis, Campsoneuria and Thalerosphyrus increased tremendously especially in Teroi River. Thus, health information dissemination should also be diverted to websites and mobile apps. Increasing knowledge and awareness could increase screening participation and prevent late detection of diseases such as colorectal cancer. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the ColorApp mobile app in improving the knowledge and attitude on colorectal cancer among users aged 50 years and older, who are the population at risk for the disease in Kedah.
