It’s self explanatory really for those who are unfamiliar with the term; a band releases a superb debut album and such is the hype surrounding a follow up, writers block, doubts and the feeling of an inability to capitalise on the inital euphoria enter the fray. When we sent the frst special editon online programme out through the WiFi dominated ether we were bowled over by the response not just from all involved with Bohemians but also from other clubs, of whom at Premier Division least a few were reported as utering ‘why didn’t we think of that?!’ 1923/24, 1927/28, 1929/30, So as the weeks passed and with the League of retaining it’s 1933/34, 1935/36, 1974/75, limbo status I raised the idea with the programme team of doing another 1977/78, 2000/01, 2002/03, one. There was stll some material in line to be used in our regular printed 2008, 2009 editons so it would be unfair to leave it sitng in my computer unused. We have 1927/28, 1934/35, 1969/70, also managed to produce the biggest match programme in my tme, with 1975/76, 1991/1992, this 48-page helping clogging your inbox now! The return of Dan Casey from his year down south in Cork as well as J.J. Lunney from Waterford was welcome news to Bohemian fans over the winter. Kevin the Gunner & Olympian...

At the London Olympics in 1948 it was O’Flanagan who, single-handedly, tended to the needs of the injured athletes. He went on to offciate at over a dozen Games, becoming a denizen of the International Olympic Movement for over a century until his death, aged 86, in 2006. In the post-War years, he was an amateur player for Arsenal, and was, according to former Arsenal player turned Club chronicler, Bernard Joy, “a veritable jack of all sports” who was “for several months the sporting idol of London as well as Highbury.” During his time at Arsenal O’Flanagan made sporting history when, in 1946, he played for Ireland’s rugby team against France before turning out for Northern Ireland’s football team against Scotland a week later. He also played for the national team. His sporting dexterity did not stop with rugby and football. While still a medical student in Dublin he claimed the all-Ireland title in the 60 yards, 100 yards and long jump, and exhibited considerable prowess at , and Gaelic football. Having qualifed as a doctor, he moved to England to take up a position as a GP, and came knocking on Arsenal’s door in May 1946. “It would be wrong to say Arsenal found me. I think I found them,” he told the Arsenal Magazine in one of his last interviews, a year before his death.“I can’t quite remember how, but I made contact with the Club, and they invited me to train with them. I’ll never forget being sat on my own in the dressing room for the frst time. In all, O’Flanagan played 16 frst-team games for “We met at a lunch,” recalled O’Flanagan. “He said he Arsenal in the 1946/47 campaign, scoring three times. wanted to nominate me for the medical committee at the Perhaps his greatest moment came in a 1-0 victory over 1948 Games [in London].
