It has been four long years since the beloved, revered and adored “” television show went to reruns. The show was a cultural phenomenon, inspiring bolder fashion choices, a love of the Cosmopolitan drink and cementing the status of Manolo Blahnik shoes forever. It inspired books like “He’s Just Not That Into You” by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, and it brought fresh popularity to the “Sex and the City” books by author Candice Bushnell. And now, much to the relief of fans everywhere, the long-awaited movie is due out May 30 in theaters nationwide. “Sex and the City” was not just another television show; it was a way of life and a new way of looking at modern working women. Similar to what “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” was for our parents’ generation, “Sex and the City” was for our generation, albeit the latter proved to be far more salacious and scandalous. The show is viewed by many as a ground- breaking TV show that re-invented the way women feel about sex, their lives, their careers, their significant others and, most importantly, their friends. “Sex and the City” ran for six consecutive seasons, from 1998 to 2004. Proving its innovative ability and captivating appeal are the multiple Emmys and Golden Globe awards that the show has garnered.

Tips from the Insiders JCU students give their advice for future entrepreneurs “Starting any business is a risk, and if you can overcome that risk by looking at the positives and keeping your prices for whatever products you sell close to the competitor or better, you cannot lose. It’s hard at first, but you have to keep thinking about the pros and keep at it. The main thing is that you have to be passionate about any business you have. You have to believe in what you are buying or selling to make others believe it is . And one must always be trustworthy, or else they will fail and no one will ever come to them; that is a guarantee.” -Maulin Shah

“Some advice I would like to give other students is to just make sure you have a set schedule and stick to it. The hardest part sometimes can be realizing that no one is going to make you do anything in your own business, and you need to be disciplined enough to get up and do it yourself.” -Wally Klubek

“Go into it viewing it as a learning experience. Failure is inevitable if you are not committed 100 percent. Time management becomes even more difficult when you have to start rationing time for the business, a job, school and a significant other. Most people don’t realize the dedication and commitment that goes into starting up something like this. I know I didn’t.” -Dave Brahler Congratulations Class of 2008 Outstanding Student Leader NEED CAREER FOCUS? Nominees! The platform of each party for the next four years will be determined and the Credentials Committee needs to approve which delegations are being seated at the conven- tion. In the recent past, this has been a non-issue for either party’s convention, but with the controversy in Michigan and Florida this year on the Democratic side, the Credentials Com- mittee may play a major role.

The third day is when the delegates cast their votes and select a nominee for president. Traditionally, since the Day 4 1974 election when the state primary and caucus method of nomination were instituted, the convention has merely been a rubber stamp for whom- ever the people have selected. But things could be different in 2008. While some univer- sities and colleges rely on the position of an ombuds to address these types of issues, JCU has never employed someone to fulfill this duty. Although the University has plans to hire an ombuds who will strictly address students, faculty and administrators with non-academic problems, the University has not considered an ombuds to deal with students’ grades. At Canisius College, the academic ombuds is a neutral person who helps resolve issues concerning students’ grades or conflicts that have arisen in classrooms. This person also helps to identify and evaluate options. Creating an academic ombuds position at

JCU would be a great addition to academics and help create an unbiased liaison between students and faculty. The administration should consider the benefits of employing an academic ombuds and look to add this position to the staff in the future. Also, the need to contest or appeal a grade should be included in all class syllabi. “ In order for a student to fix an academic conflict at JCU, he or she should first go to the professor.
