INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS

Equine Influenza Update:

In order to attend the 2019 Stithians Show all horses & ponies must have been vaccinated for Equine Influenza to comply with the requirements of the primary course (1st vaccination and then 2nd vaccination between 21 – 92 days later), followed by the first booster (150 – 215 days) and all subsequent boosters. Horses may compete having received the primary course and prior to the first booster but not within 7 days of receiving a vaccine dose. Horses must have been vaccinated within 6 months before the show but not less than 7 days of arriving at the show.

Foals In-foal mares that have already had vaccinations of primary Equine Influenza course should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks before the foal is due to be born. Foals should be vaccinated for Equine Influenza at 6 months to commence their primary course.

We urge all owners to adhere to strict biosecurity protocols at all times. Vaccinations are subject to local risk assessments by the attending veterinarians. Please note that neither vaccination certificates nor passports should be sent to the show office prior to the event. However, ransom checks will be carried out on the showground during the show.

This show is affiliated to Sports Horse Breeding of Great Britain (SHB(GB)) and classes 10-13 & 15 are held under their rules. Class 10 must have a valid JMB certificate. Only horses registered with SHB (GB) an who are also registered on the current year’s Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter in Qualifying classes for Ridden and Working Hunter Championships and the Show Hunter Registration Number must be quoted on entry forms. Any horse that is entered for a Qualifying Class without first being in the Show Hunter Register cannot subsequently be registered and therefore will not be eligible for entry in any qualifying classes for the remainder of the season. Competitors may compete on a day ticket and may have a maximum of two day tickets per season. Each day ticket in valid for one show and it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration/over stamp for that show. If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration/over stamp must be received in the SHB (GB) office within 14 days. Classes 1-4, 10-13, 15-31, 33-37, 46-56, 58-61 are qualifiers for Equifest 2019. The two highest placed exhibits, not already qualified, will qualify for the relevant Equifest Championship to be held at the East of England Show ground on the 29th August – 1st September 2019.

This show is affiliated to the British Show Horse Association (BSHA) and Class 14 is held under their rules. Exhibitors wishing to enter Class 14 who are not registered with The British Show Horse Association can purchase a day ticket – details from www.britishshowhorse.org Horses registered with the Association must be owned, exhibited and ridden by current BSHA members. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Day Tickets. Non-members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Working Show Horse Class 14. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.

This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes are subject to the Constitution and Rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. Affiliation No: BSPS 120/19 This show is a qualifier for the 2019 BSPS Championships Show, to be held 21st to 24th August 2019 at Arena UK. The 1st and 2nd prize winners only in classes 54 & 55 will qualify and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners only in classes 60 & 61 will qualify for the Championships Show, provided the animal is registered in accordance with rules 21 & 26 of the BSPS 2019 rule book and ridden by a BSPS member. 1st to 4th prize winners in classes 58 & 59 will qualify for the Champions Show. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Blue Riband Pony of the Year. The 1st & 2nd prize winners in Classes 54, 55, 58 & 60 will qualify provided the pony is owned, registered and ridden by a BSPS member. This show is a qualifier for The BSPS Binks Family 50th Year Golden Anniversary Show Champion of Champions. 1st prize winners in Classes 54, 55, 58 to 61 will qualify. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS “Classic Security” UK Ltd Challenge. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2019 Horse of the Year Show. If a pony qualifies for the Horse of the Year Show it will forfeit its qualification for the Classic Security (UK) Ltd Challenge. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS “Black Country Saddles” Best Rider of the Year. The Best Rider in classes 54- 61 will receive a card and qualify for the final at the BSPS 2019 Summer Championships Show provided the pony is owned, registered and ridden by a BSPS member.

This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society (NPS). Classes 23-31 & 33-35 are qualifiers for the NPS Summer Championship Show (6th – 8th August 2019) to be held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern. These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Exhibits in these classes must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books and foals in class 20 must be eligible for registration in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non- members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 6th – 8th August 2019. The highest placed pony, if owned by NPS Qualifying or Life members, in each class qualifies for the final. Qualification may pass down to third in the event 1st and 2nd have qualified. Owner’s membership cards to be shown in the ring.

Classes 46, 48 & 49 are qualifiers for the NPS Area 10 Show Pony In Hand Supreme National Championship & NPS Menedh Stud Show Hunter Pony In Hand National Championship. Both the highest placed Show Pony and the highest placed Show Hunter Pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may be passed down to 3rd place if the 1st and 2nd placed ponies have already qualified. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 6th – 8th August 2019.

This show is a qualifier for the NPS Area 26 End of Season Extravaganza 2019, to be held at Tall Trees Arena on Saturday 14h September 2019. The top three competitors in classes: 1-4, 6, 7, 10-13, 19-31, 39-43, 46-49, 54-61 will receive qualification cards.

This show is affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association (BSPA). Classes 33-37 are open to Skewbald and Piebald Horses/Ponies only. Classes 33-37 & 50-53 are qualifiers for the BSPA World Championships of Colour National Championship Show to be held at The College EC, Keysoe, Beds, in September 2019.

This show is affiliated to The Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society and “Best Shetland” rosettes will be awarded in classes 19, 21, 22 & 23 providing the exhibit is registered with the society.

Exhibits in Classes 44 & 45 must be fully paid up members of the International Miniature Horse and Pony Society Ltd (IMHPS) Horses registered with IMHPS and placed 1st - 3rd in both classes qualify for the Miniature Horse of the Year Show to be held in October 2019 at Keysoe College, Bedford.

This show is a qualifier for TSR Riders Championships. This show is a qualifier for the 2019 TSR Riders Regional Championships. Qualify and enter ANY of the Regional Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You do not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The rider qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of Finals! TSR Riders Champs – 1st and 2nd places qualify in classes 1-4, 6-13, 25-31, 54-61 will receive a qualification card in the ring. Full details at www.theshowingregister.co.uk

Any exhibitor wishing to enter a protest must do so in writing to the Secretary, accompanied by a deposit of £20. If the protest is not sustained, the deposit may be forfeited. If the protest is upheld and any award winner becomes disqualified, the winner of the next succeeding award will take the award of the disqualified winner and the lowest award shall go to the reserve award. No protest can be accepted after the conclusion of the Show, nor will any protest be accepted until all the horses in the particular class have left the ring. This does not affect the protest procedures for affiliated classes.

This class is a qualifier for Equifest 2019, TSR Rider Championship & NPS Area 26 Extravaganza. The winner to receive the Henry Prowse Perpetual Memorial Cup.

CLASS 2 EQUIFEST RIDDEN MAXI COB; KINDLY SPONSORED BY RACHEAL PEARCE BUZZ’S FISH & CHIPS Mare or gelding, 4 years or over, exceeding 155cms, rider any age. This class is a qualifier for Equifest 2019, TSR Rider Championship & NPS Area 26 Extravaganza.

CLASS 3 NUPAFEED/EQUIFEST RIDING HORSE & HIGHTOPPS STUD/EQUIFEST HACK; Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cms, rider any age. This class is a qualifier for Equifest 2019 for both small & large Riding Horse and Hacks, TSR Rider Championship & NPS Area 26 Extravaganza. The winner to receive the Jack & Christine Manhire Perpetual Memorial Trophy.

Ridden Championship – KINDLY SPONSORED BY CAHARRACK ANIMAL FEEDS 1st & 2nd prize winners from classes 1, 2 & 3 are eligible. The Champion to receive a Trophy presented by the President

CLASS 4 BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES LOCAL HUNTER; Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 143cms. Competitors entered in classes 10-13 & 15 are NOT eligible for this class. This class is a qualifier for Black Country Saddles / Equifest Ridden Hunter Championship 2019, TSR Rider Championship & NPS Area 26 Extravaganza.

DRIVING CLASS

CLASS 5 OPEN DRIVING CLASS; Please give details of vehicle and any other interesting pieces of information for the commentator, on a separate sheet of paper. The winner will receive the Aztec for Canon Perpetual Trophy. The best Junior Whip will receive the Jack Manhire Perpetual Memorial Trophy.

CORNISH COMBINATION CLASSES

The following classes are open to exhibits owned and ridden by residents of Cornwall and conformation will not be judged. No rider may enter more than one class. Dress code: All mounted competitors must wear a hat or skull to the current safety standard; Tweed, Navy or Black jackets acceptable; No ear-rings or studs to be worn; Spurs may be worn in class 9 only.

CLASS 6 LEAD REIN; Open to mares and geldings, 4 years old or over. Riders to have attained their 3rd birthday but not their 8th birthday by the 1/1/19. Snaffle bridles must be worn with the leading rein attached to the noseband. This class is a qualifier for NPS Area 26 Extravaganza. The youngest rider to receive the W.D. Uren Perpetual Trophy.

CLASS 7 FIRST RIDDEN; Open to mares and geldings, 4 years old or over. Riders to have attained their 7th birthday but not their 12th birthday by 1/1/19. No leading reins. Any suitable bridle. This class is a qualifier for NPS Area 26 Extravaganza.

CLASS 8 YOUNG RIDER; Open to mares and geldings, 4 years old and over. Riders to have attained their 12th birthday but not their 16th birthday by 1/1/19. Any suitable bridle. The winner to receive the Somar International Perpetual Shield.

Best Rider Championship Two riders each from classes 6-8 will be nominated to come forward for the Championship. The Dingle Silver Perpetual Challenge Cup will be presented to the Best Rider

CLASS 9 OPEN; Open to stallion, mares and geldings, 4 years old and over. Riders 16 years or over. Any suitable bridle. The winner to receive the Somar International Perpetual Shield.

RIHS RIDDEN HUNTER CLASSES

CLASS 10 R.I.H.S. (2020) OPEN SMALL HUNTER; Any mare or gelding, 4 years old or over exceeding 148 cm (14.2hh approx) but not exceeding 158 cm (15.2hh approx). A horse, which is registered as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class. When registering on the current Show Hunter Register, a current Joint Measurement Board Height Certificate must be forwarded with the application. Judges are not empowered to question the height of a Registered Small Hunter. Owners & Riders & Horses must be affiliated to Sport Horse Breeding (GB). Day Ticket = £36 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year at £36 per show – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). NB: All exhibitors in classes 14-18 must declare for jumping at the entrance to Ring 2, 15 minutes before the start. Competitors entering classes 14 are not eligible for class 4

CLASS 14 BSHA WORKING SHOW HORSE; (See Information for Exhibitors) Open to Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses; mare or gelding four years old and over, exceeding 148cms. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Any Horse which is a Grade B Showjumper, Intermediate Eventer, or above, as at 1/1/2019 is not eligible to compete. A Rider may ride up to two Horses in the jumping phase but must then select one Horse to take through to the Ride and Conformation phases (if required). No change of Rider is allowed. This class is a qualifier for The SEIB Working Show Horse of the Year Final to be held at the BSHA National Championship Show. The two highest placed horses in the top five, not already qualified, will qualify for the Final; no horse placed lower than fifth will qualify. TSR Rider Championship Qualifier.

CLASS 15 R.I.H.S. (2020) OPEN WORKING HUNTER; Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over. Owners & Riders & Horses must be affiliated to Sport Horse Breeding (GB) Day Ticket = £36 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year at £36 per show – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days. RIDDEN SKEWBALD & PIEBALD CLASSES

Classes 33-36 are affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association and are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead July 2020. Classes will be judged under BSPA rules. Download from www.bspaonline.com. All horses/ponies must be registered and all owners and riders BSPA members prior to the show. Rider’s age taken from 1st January. Membership and qualification cards must be carried in the ring by competitors and produced as required for inspection or signature. Failure to do so will mean disqualification. HUNTER/RIDING HORSE/HACK CLASSES

No registration necessary to enter the following classes except all animals must be over 148cms in class 39 & 43, and expect to mature to exceed 148cms in classes 40-42.

CLASS 39 HUNTER/RIDING HORSE/HACK BROOD MARE; to be eligible for this class the mare must have her own foal at foot. NPS Area 26 Extravaganza qualifier. The best Hunter type mare to receive the M. Choak Silver Perpetual Cup.

CLASS 40 HUNTER/RIDING HORSE/HACK FOAL; to be eligible for this class the foal must be the progeny of mare entered in class 41 and be at least three weeks old on the day of the show. NPS Area 26 Extravaganza qualifier. The J Snell Perpetual Cup will be awarded for the best foal sired by a SHB (GB) Graded Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion.

CLASS 41 HUNTER/RIDING HORSE/HACK YEARLING; Colt, Gelding or Filly foaled in 2018. NPS Area 26 Extravaganza qualifier.

SKEWBALD AND PIEBALD IN-HAND CLASSES

BSPA classes are open to Skewbald and Piebald Horses and Ponies only and open to members and non-members but members only to qualify to the World Championship of Colour. Classes 52 – 55 are affiliated to the British Skewbald and Piebald Association and are qualifiers for the World Championships of Colour National Championship Show to be held at the College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe, Bedfordshire on September 2019. These classes will be judged within the rules and criteria of the BSPA. Copies of the rule book and membership/horse registration/ over stamping forms can be obtained from the Show Office - 01354 638226 or downloaded from www.bspaonline.com All Stallions 4 years and over must be graded, licensed and registered with the BSPA or in possession of a 2019 Stallion Showing Permit in order to compete and must carry into the ring their blue BSPA showing ID card and BSPA bridle discs must be worn. The following classes are open to members and non-members but in order to qualify all owners/handlers must be members of the BSPA and all horses/ponies registered with the BSPA prior to the show. BSPA qualification cards must be produced in the ring and be signed by the Judge, otherwise qualification is invalid. The highest placed Amateur and highest placed Junior in each class (must be members of the BSPA) will qualify for the Amateur and Junior Supreme Championship Finals to be held at the BSPA World of Colour Championship Show at the College E.C. Amateur/Junior cards to be shown and qualification card signed. Qualification: 1st – 3rd in all classes or 1st – 4th for classes exceeding 10 entries.

Any substitution must be made on an official British Showjumping form and either sent to the Show Secretary prior to show day or entering online.

The best 5 scores, or, all clear rounds, will go forward to the second round which will be against the clock. In the event of equality, faults and time will decide i.e. the fastest four faulters will qualify. All scores in the first round will be carried forward to the second round. Competitors in the second round will start in the reverse order of merit or the slowest four faulters will go first, the fastest clear last. If necessary, those who do not reach the second round, faults and time in the first round will determine their placings; however, the competitor will be placed after those who compete in the second round. We commit to operating the Association in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all applicable Regulations and Legislation made under the Act ‘So far as is reasonably practicable’. Our policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all our employees, volunteers and the general public, and to provide such information, training and supervision as they need for this purpose. We also accept our responsibility for the health and safety of other people who may be affected by our activities. The Association encourages family participation and therefore acknowledges the increased risks to young and/or inexperienced volunteers. The Board of Trustees acknowledge that Health and Safety responsibilities within the Association are of equal importance as other priorities. Although the Board of Trustees accept responsibility for the implementation of this policy, it relies on individual employees/volunteers to accept their own duty and responsibility to themselves, fellow workers and others who might be injured/affected by their acts or omissions. The allocation of duties for safety matters and the particular arrangements that we will make to implement the policy are set out below. The policy will be kept up to date, particularly if the Association’s activities change in nature and size. To ensure this, the policy and the way in which it has operated will be monitored and reviewed every year or more frequently if required.

SAFETY INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE

All Exhibitors must comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all relevant Regulations and Guidance, Animal exhibitors must also comply with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and any relevant codes of practice, guidance, etc. provided by the relevant governing body organizations SHOW SECURITY

Limited security cover by the Association’s offcial security contractor will be provided nightly between 7.00 p.m. and 7.00 a.m. from Monday before the Show and then continuously from 2.00 p.m. on the Sunday until 7 a.m. on the Tuesday after the Show. You must be aware that the Showground is large, with multiple entrances and that the security offcials cannot be in all areas at all times. The Association will not be responsible for the safe custody of any article brought for exhibition, nor will they be answerable for any loss or damage that may occur to any article.

H & S Schedules Catalogue V1 - February, 2019 FIRE SAFETY All catering outlets or trade stands must assess the risk of fre and provide for effective primary fre prevention equipment where any potential ignition sources are present.

GAS SAFETY Any fxed installation gas equipment (cookers, pipework, valves etc) must comply with the provisions of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 L56 (Fifth edition Sl 2018/139) published 2018. All catering vans / marquees with gas installation MUST have a Gas Safety Certifcate / Gas Safety Record. Note: These certifcates can ONLY be issued by an Engineer that is listed on the Gas Safe Register. A certifcate MUST BE provided to the organizers prior to entry to the event. The regulation can be viewed on: hVps://www.ncass.org.uk/ mobile-catering-home/content. PORTABLE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE SAFETY HSG107 - Third Addition 2013 INDG236 - Rev 3 2013 the law requires electrical equipment to be maintained to prevent danger. The type and frequency of user checks, inspections and testing needed will depend on the equipment, the environment in which it is used and the results of previous checks. All portable electrical equipment brought onto the showground must comply with: HSG 107 - Third Edition 2013 Maintaining portable and transportable electrical equipment, or INDG236 - Third Edition 2013 Maintaining portable electrical equipment in offces and other low risk environments. Diesel generators - the use of diesel generators is permitted provided modern, quiet equipment is used. Petrol generators are not permitted and the Association reserves the right to ask for what they regard as unsuitable equipment to be removed.

SHOWGROUND TRAFFIC All showground traffc must give priority to pedestrians and riders and strictly observe speed restrictions at times when such movement is permitted. During the Show (0900 to 1800 hours) all showground roadways must be kept clear of any vehicles, exhibits, stands, canopies, etc. to allow free passage of emergency vehicles at any time. Please note strictly no unauthorized movement of vehicles will be permitted within the show ground between the hours of 0900 and 1800 hours. N.B. Trade and Craft Stand Exhibitors are required to remain open until 1800 and MUST NOT attempt to leave the Showground before that time due to the danger of interaction with pedestrians. Livestock exhibitors: may leave the showground prior to 1800 hours, subject to the approval of the Showyard Directors and notifcation to the Section Secretary (movement is only to comply with DEFRA Animal Welfare regulations). MAJOR INCIDENT PLANNING (SITE EVACUATION) In the event of a major incident where it is necessary to evacuate the site, in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, please follow all signs and instructions from the organizers and Emergency Services. ALL people will be requested to evacuate the site, until it is deemed safe to return. The Association accepts no responsibility for any property or livestock or any person or persons who fail to comply with the request to evacuate the showground.

Public Liability Insurance – Whilst the Association has its public liability cover in place it is only for its own protection. All exhibitors must have their own public liability insurance which covers them for attendance at the Stithians Show.
