  • GREATER DANDENONG PLANNING SCHEME AMENDMENT C218gdan
Planning and Environment Act 1987 GREATER DANDENONG PLANNING SCHEME AMENDMENT C218gdan EXPLANATORY REPORT Who is the planning authority? This amendment has been prepared by the Minister for Planning who is the planning authority for this amendment. The amendment has been made at the request of the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), part of the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority which is an administrative office established under the Public Administration Act 2004 within the Department of Transport. Land affected by the Amendment This amendment applies to land located in the vicinity of the South Gippsland Highway level crossing in Dandenong South (level crossing). The land affected by the amendment (affected land) comprises three parcels of privately-owned land as follows: Part of 1-27 Princes Highway Dandenong South; Part of 20 South Gippsland Highway Dandenong South; and The whole of 23-25 South Gippsland Highway Dandenong South. What the Amendment does The amendment introduces a new Public Acquisition Overlay (PAO) for the purpose of the South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South Level Crossing Removal Project by: Amending the schedule to Clause 45.01 ‘Public Acquisition Overlay’ to include PAO7, which makes the Secretary of the Department of Transport the acquiring authority for PAO7; and Amending Planning Scheme Map Nos. 06PAO and 09PAO to show PAO7 applying to land to be acquired. The purpose of the PAO is to reserve the affected land for a public purpose, enabling it to be acquired for the future delivery of the South Gippsland Highway level crossing removal project (project). • Bass Coast Flyer
Bass Coast Flyer In this edition of the Flyer you will meet Sue Woolley, BLBC’s new secretary, read outing reports, find out the dates of BirdlIfe Bass Coast special activites and read some interesting articles - Birds On Farms, a Naidoc story, survey results from a survey at Cape Paterson and have the chance to vote to support the Corinella Wetlands project. BLBC is a member of the 3mFM community and all activities are listed on their calendar. We hope to be more active in this space this next year. Also you will find some useful websites to help with bird identification. There are opportunities for you to join the committee, to report on conservation issues in your community or to provide local news for the newsletter. Please keep in touch and keep the committee informed. Penny Manning. Editor. Convenor’s Report Well, what a big time it's been for BirdLife Bass Coast since our last newsletter. At the A.G.M. all executive positions were filled. Penny Manning was re-elected as treasurer, I retained the convenor position, Dallas Wyatt declined re-election as secretary and Sue Woolley has now filled this position. A big thank you to Dallas for all the hard work he has done in the past year. Fortunately Dallas remains on the committee as do Nola Thorpe and Gordon Barrett. A very big thank you to long time committee members John Adam and Helen Dennis who have both resigned. Their contributions to the committee meetings will be sorely missed. We still have vacancies on the committee and we would like to hear from you if you are interested.

  • Place Names of Casey and Cardinia
Place Names of Casey and Cardinia Casey Cardinia Libraries have compiled this list of place names and their meanings from the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire and related neighbouring areas. It includes early schools in the area, as school names often reflected the fluidity of town names in the early days. They also indicate the locations of towns that no longer exist. Army Road, Pakenham Army Road marks the location of the Salvation Army boy's home established in Pakenham in 1900. It subsequently became a home for Girls and then an Old Men's Home. The home closed in the 1920s. The Army Road School. No.3847, operated intermittently form 1914 until 1947. (W, V) Avonsleigh John (J.W) and Anna wright owned a guesthouse called Avonsleigh House at the corner of Emerald-Macclesfield and Emerald Roads. The name was adopted in 1911. The area was previously known as East Emerald. See also Wright Railway Station. (C) Balla Balla The Balla Balla run on Rutherford inlet was taken up in 1839 by Robert Innes Allan. The meaning is uncertain. Ballarat is aboriginal for resting or camping place from balla 'resting on one's elbow; and arat 'place', so it could mean 'resting'. Another possible meaning is 'mud'.There is a Balla Balla river, near Whim Creek, in the Pilbara Western Australia which was first recorded by Surveyor, Alexander Forrest in 1879. The name is thought to be derived from the Aboriginal word parla, from the Kariyarra language, meaning 'mud'. (B) Ballarto Road John Bakewell retained ownership of the Tooradin run in 1856 when his partnership with John Mickle and William Lyall dissolved.
