Infrastructure projects • Port El Arenal: It is an extension of Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla in an adjacent area. The Government will develop a Public-Private Partnership for this port and rebuild the port of Santo Tomás. • Port of Champerico: On the Pacific side of Guatemala next to a free trade zone that began operations in March of this year. It is 96 blocks of flat land with all the services. It was abandoned 20 years ago under the Champerico Free Zone Law. • Transversal del Sur: Route to join the Port of Champerico with the Port Quetzal, by means of a four-lane highway on the Pacific coast. It is 100 kilometers that will pass near several tourist beaches that will be incorporated to the development of the South Coast. • Airport of the Port of San José: It is an exclusive cargo airport to facilitate commerce and to decongest the La Aurora International Terminal. Among the plans is that it has a free zone and a multimodal system of productive infrastructure. • Guatemala's Peripheral: Similar to Mexico's and designed by the same architect, it is an east-west axis from Condado Concepción to the exit of Ciudad San Cristóbal, with four lanes and two for Transmetro on the second floor in exchange for the payment of tolls. • Aerometro: is a cable car project currently under construction that will serve Guatemala City, Guatemala. It will connect zone 2 of Mixco with zone 9 of the capital city in approximately 25 minutes. It will be operated by private companies under a 25-year concession. The cost of the project will be 1,400 million Quetzals. • Investment (USD): $ 181,944,840.00 • Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal Highway: An initial investment of US$80 million is estimated for the rehabilitation, administration, operation and maintenance of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal Highway with toll collection. It is estimated that 1,500 jobs will be generated during the term of the contract. • Investment (USD): $ 80million • Metrorail: US$772 million are required for the road interconnection and urban passenger transportation of the north-south axis of Guatemala City. Three thousand 500 jobs can be generated during the term of the contract. • La Aurora International Airport: US$158 million are required for the modernization, efficiency and security of the AILA. Six thousand direct jobs and 75,900 indirect jobs are projected. Investment (USD): $158million • Via Express: For the construction, expansion and improvement of the beltway to Guatemala City through the CA-09 North-CA-01 East Interconnection, one US$310 million is required. Three thousand 800 direct and indirect jobs could be generated. Investment (USD): $158million • State Administrative Center: An estimated US$240 million is needed for the construction of the CAE in Guatemala City. Investment (USD): $240million • Tecún Umán Intermodal Port II, Phase 2: The investment is US$20 million. One thousand 200 direct jobs and 35 thousand indirect jobs could be generated. To date, 99% of the port has been built. The Rodolfo Robles Bridge needs to be built. The Project aims to improve the infrastructure and logistics services for railway cargo. Investment (USD): $20million • East-West Corridor: At the moment, the amount of investment for the mass public transportation system of the east-west axis of the metropolitan area of Guatemala has not been established. The project could create five thousand jobs during the contract period. 2. Environmental Projects • Productive Landscapes Resilient to Climate Change and Strengthened Socio- Economic Networks in Guatemala Project: To increase the climate resilience of productive landscapes and socio-economic systems in destination municipalities threatened by the impacts of climate change and climate variability, particularly hydrometeorological phenomena that are increasing in frequency and intensity. • Rural Development and Adaptation to Climate Change Phase II ADAPTATE II: Contributes to reducing the vulnerability of the population and ecosystems to climate change in the Dry Corridor through the management of environmental goods and services BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN EL SALVADOR 1. Infraestructure projects: • Airport Cargo Terminal: ICE Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA). PHASE 1, Capital Expenditure: $13 MUSD, Develop current terminal in order to move from 23,000 MT to 52,000 MT. PHASE 2, Capital Expenditure: $44 MUSD, DBFOM a new cargo terminal in order to move from 52,000 MT a 73,000MT. Sources of revenue: Administration of the Cargo Terminal.
