St. Mary’s has prepared them well and formed them EDITOR Amy G. Partain in our Catholic faith to be the salt of the earth. Please keep all of our graduates in your prayers as they start this next exciting stage in their lives! I am happy to announce that the Board of Directors has appointed Patrick Carter as our full-time Interim President for the 2016-2017 school year effective immediately and completing on June 30, 2017. Over the last few months, during which Mr. Carter served as our Operations Director, he has proven his dedication and passion for St. Mary’s High School and established rapport and credibility with the faculty and staff. He brings a strong business background from his years of experience as CEO/CFO of a local company. In addition to his service to our country in the United States Marine Corps, he has served in many non-profit organizations over the last 10 years. His main focus SMHS BOARD OF DIRECTORS during this interim year will be to prepare SMHS for a permanent president starting CHAIR in the 2017/2018 school year. He will work closely with our Tom Resman Development, Admissions, and Business Departments to ensure VICE CHAIR the future success of SMHS. Young Champion Ambassadors are charged with promoting Colorado Springs in general and its Olympic connection in particular. In October 2014, Baldwin entered Colorado Springs’ first Young Champion Ambassador essay contest, writing on what he would tell the world about Colorado Springs. “That was the most productive homework assignment I’ve ever done,” Baldwin said of the essay he wrote. Students now have more opportunities to fulfill their community service requirements, thanks to the school’s new Mercy Alive program. Motivated by the Jubilee Year of Mercy, which began during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in December 2015, St. Mary’s started the Mercy Alive program to provide students with opportunities to reach out to the poor and abandoned in society. The program focuses on community, prayer, and reflection. Students who wish to participate must complete a brief application stating why they desire to serve, then upon completion of their service they are required to write a brief reflection on their experience.
