Korean Air has taken the top award in the ‘Best Red’ category in the 2017 Business Traveller ‘Cellars in the Sky’ airline wine awards. ‘Cellars in the Sky’, which celebrates the best first and business class wines served by airlines worldwide, announced the winners at a ceremony in London. The co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge, Charles Metcalfe, and the general manager of Korean Air’s London regional office, Korean Air received the gold medal in the ‘Best Business Jong Rae Kim. Class Red Wine’ category for serving Haselgrove Catkin Shiraz 2014 in its Prestige Class (Business Class). In addition, the airline also received the bronze medal in the ‘Best Red Wine’ category for serving Chateau Du Tertre 2007.

Business Traveller has been running the renowned 'Cellars in the Sky' awards annually since 1985, and 400 wines from 30 carriers, including Korean Air, Air , Airlines, and , 2018were submitted for this year’s awards. 2017 Korean Air serves a total of 49 wines on board, including 15 wines chosen specifically for First Class. The airline maintains the highest level of quality by purchasing wines from 11 countries, depending on consumption and trends. The airline also pre-orders some wines 3-4 years in advance of the expected in-flight service to secure wines in the best condition.

ONE DAY CAFÉ: TRAVEL THE WORLD IN THE HEART OF THE CITY! Korean Air employees created and staffed a one-day gift market on the ground floor of the Korean Air building in downtown . The event offered a marketplace selling souvenirs supplied by sponsoring tourist bureaus in eight Korean Air destination countries, including the U.S., Spain, China, and Japan. Warmly welcomed and attended by travel enthusiasts, this event also featured a DIY rose-scented room spray class. As participants mixed and crafted their own aromatic room sprays, they were introduced to global travel destinations renowned for their roses. All proceeds were donated to the United Help for International Children Organization that aims to help children overcome suffering around the world. Korean Air’s Incheon staff established a scholarship to support the hopes and dreams of children of Yongyu Elementary School that Korean Air supports. Financial aid and certificates were delivered to eight graduates who were selected for exemplary behavior and volunteer activities. Korean Air also hosts children interested in aviation on tours of its Seoul headquarters and Tech Center. Korean Air has other programs especially for children.

Korean Air’s commitment to Habitat for Humanity spans a number of countries. Just last year, the airline helped build homes in Korea and the Philippines. Korean Air supports Habitat for Humanity by providing construction costs, flights, and an employee work force that has recruited family members and friends to build homes. The airline has helped build almost 20 homes in Korea and the Philippines.
