Al igual que el primer sencillo de adelanto de #ElDisco, Back in the City ha sido producido a seis manos por Julio Reyes Copello, productor que ya colaboró en el álbum La música no se toca en 2012, Alfonso Pérez, músico insustituible en las giras de Sanz desde 1997, y el propio Alejandro Sanz. Los estudios Art House Studios y Mow Studios en Miami acogieron las sesiones de grabación durante los meses de marzo y octubre de 2018 y ha contado con Trevor Muzzy (Lady Gaga, JLo, Jason Derulo), como ingeniero de mezclas y el mastering de Gene Grimaldi (Sting, Johnny Cash, Jason Derulo o Lady Gaga) Back in the City plasma la innovadora fusión de estilos de #ElDisco. Alejandro Sanz nos muestra abiertamente sus inquietudes musicales, la infatigable búsqueda de nuevos sonidos y colores, una efervescencia musical que naturalmente incluye todas las señas de identidad de su autor. Geoff Munns ii Abstract This thesis explores the use of place in Van Morrison’s songwriting. The central argument is that he employs place in many of his songs at lyrical and musical levels, and that this use of place as a poetic and aural device both defines and distinguishes his work. This argument is widely supported by Van Morrison scholars and critics. The main research question is: What are the ways that Van Morrison employs the concept of place to explore the wider themes of his writing across his career from 1965 onwards? This question was reached from a critical analysis of Van Morrison’s songs and recordings. A position was taken up in the study that the songwriter’s lyrics might be closely read and appreciated as song texts, and this reading could offer important insights into the scope of his life and work as a songwriter. The analysis is best described as an analytical and interpretive approach, involving a simultaneous reading and listening to each song and examining them as speech acts.

The albums address the social implications of racism in the present day, throughout Lamar’s life and throughout the lives of his ancestors. In my analysis of Lamar’s albums, I address the history of American chattel slavery and its aftermath as a social system that privileges white over black. On the basis of my interpretation of the penultimate track on To Pimp a Butterfly, “i,” I propose a love ethic as a means through which the American social order can be changed. I take the term love ethic from Cornel West and bell hooks. A love ethic is a means through which individual bodies hurt by racism can be recognized and revalorized. Through the course of his three studio albums Lamar offers a narrative remediation of America’s discriminatory social order.     No Mad Man by Jonathan Townsend 1 ONCE upon a time. I, Jonathan Townsend, was born under British-rule in Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, in the Union of South Africa, Planet Earth, in 1951 (Earth-time). Apart from once, at the age of two, losing my earth-mother for a minute or so, whilst walking with her at a busy road-crossing in the centre of the city, when I remember other earthlings concerned about me being lost and my earth-mother finding me again, I don't remember much. Towards the end of my second year on this planet, I moved with my earth-family to Ndola, in what was then Northern Rhodesia, also a British colony (presently called Zambia). (For the sake of brevity, I will from here on refer to any of my earth-family, or other earthlings, et cetera, in the same way that they refer to each other, e.g.: family, mother, father, people, humans, homo sapiens, or what have you.) Just as a long line of my ancestors had done, my father worked for the British colonial government (he as a civil-engineer - roads and bridges). My mother was an artist-painter and played the piano when she wasn't looking after us kids - she had the help of a black maid (we had a large house) and a black gardener (and a large garden). Although I remember more from my time in Ndola, not much of it has any bearing on the purpose of this account, so I'll proceed to the next stage.

    Interview with Lady Pink By Melisa Riviere, 1998 Interview with Lady Pink in 1998 By Melisa Riviere Lady Pink is Ecuadorian by birth, raised in Queens, New York. She is one of the most respected female muralists as well as one of the first female graffiti writers to attain international fame. Currently she is co-owner of PinkSmith Designs with her husband with works ranging from street corners, museums, and art galleries to nightclubs. Lady Pink began her artistic career by producing illegal murals on the New York City subways in the late 1970’s, an underground career that blossomed in the hip-hop pop cult art movement of the 1980’s. Lady Pink appeared as the only featured female artistic in the 1982 Fashion Moda show in New York City that was the first, and at the time, the only graffiti art style exhibition. Her canvasses today are featured in collections such as those of the Whitney Museum the MET, and The Brooklyn Museum in New York and the Groningen Museum of Holland. Lady Pink’s integration into the graffiti art culture, her role as a muralist, and her romance with fellow graffiti writer at the time, Lee Quiñonez, became the model for the film ”Wild Style” in which she played a starring role. Her work has illustrated the union between graffiti, its legal representation of aerosol art and the commercial aspects of gallery exhibition. A friend and colleague made the connection for me, and the thought that I might get to interview Lady Pink personally was my sole motivation to go to New York City.

He began playing guitar at the age of seven and composing his first songs three years later.
