THE SHOW THE DOCTOR is an alien who travels through TIME and SPACE in the TARDIS, a time machine that looks like a blue phone box and is BIGGER ON THE INSIDE. He picks up human COMPANIONS along the way to travel with him. He often saves the earth and other planets from MONSTERS and evil ALIENS. The Doctor can REGENERATE into different bodies to avoid death, and so far has had 12 (numbered) REGENERATIONS.
THE HISTORY DOCTOR WHO began in 1963 in BLACK & WHITE on BBC1, switched to COLOR in 1970, was CANCELLED in 1989, was brought back for a MOVIE in 1996, and then was finally REBOOTED in 2005. The new show maintains (mostly) unbroken CONTINUITY with the classic show. The Show in Pictures
