One thing is for sure though: Alba is not ready to leave her beloved Eden Valley, her best friend Grady, her new comic character Cinnamon Girl, or her mother’s bakery. As it turns out, she and her friends might not have time to go anywhere, if the quack from a YouTube video turns out to have correctly predicted the end of the world, which he says will come on New Year’s Eve and will leave only Eden Valley standing. Suddenly, all sorts of crazy people flood the valley—setting up tents, renting out houses and rooms, and cleaning out the grocery store in anticipation of the end of the world. Then another unexpected visitor arrives to the valley: Alba’s and Grady’s childhood-best-friend- turned-semi-famous-soap-opera-actor Daniel. He, his perfect abs, and his cheesy soap opera face have come home for some publicity. Daniel’s return marks the beginning of tensions between Alba and Grady, and prompts discussions about Alba’s future. While her friends make plans to move on to college or to big cities after the New Year, she remains too frightened to follow her dreams of studying art and becoming a major comic book artist. Who would want a big change like that after the dramatic motorcycle death of their father several years prior? Definitely not Alba. While she clings to the past, Eden Valley races forward, and the clock ticks down to the end of the world. Alba resists change until Grady forces her to confront it. They wind up fighting for the first time pretty much ever, and miserable to boot. Even Cinnamon Girl is affected by Alba’s confusion, refusing to develop into a specific character or enter into a proper storyline. When Daniel attempts to kiss Alba and then gives her a diet book, she springs into motion. She rides a motorcycle for the first time since her father’s accident, overcoming her past and liberating herself from her crippling fear of the future. Grady confronts Daniel, intending to punch him for trying to kiss the girl he’s been in love with for seventeen years (and for telling her she needs to diet), and winds up getting punched instead. Grady takes off, and Alba chases after him. Once they reunite, Alba realizes her love for him and they kiss as the countdown to the end of the world hits zero. The world does not end. Alba’s friends reveal that they put Daniel up to hitting on her—they were all trying to push Alba and Grady together. As the summer ends, her friends move on from the Valley, Daniel returns to acting, and Alba and Grady head off to the city to attend the university—together. 1700 Chattahoochee Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30318-2112 * www.peachtree-online.com ORDER DESK: 800-241-0113 or 404-876-8761 * FAX: 800-875-8909 or 404-875-2578 * E-MAIL: [email protected] SOMEWHAT TRUE ADVENTURES OF SAMMY SHINE, THE Author / Illustrator: ISBN – 13: Henry Cole 9781561458660 Retail Price: Pub Date: $16.95 04/16 BISAC Codes: JUV001000 JUVENILE FICTION / Action & Adventure / General JUV039060 JUVENILE FICTION / Social Issues / Friendship JUV002180 JUVENILE FICTION / Animals / Mice, Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, etc Category / Format / Trim size: illustrations: Illustrated Fiction / HC / 6 x 8 130 b & w line drawings Age Range /Grade Page count: Range: 272 pages Ages 8-12 / 3–6 Territory: Rights: World Peachtree Sales Handle: Inspired by a childhood experience, New York Times-bestselling author-illustrator Henry Cole offers this charming illustrated novel featuring adorable animal characters, an exciting adventure, and an action- packed plot. • Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young)
Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young) [Verse 1] I want to live With a cinnamon girl I could be happy The rest of my life With a cinnamon girl [Chorus] A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together Chasing the moonlight My cinnamon girl [Verse 2] Ten silver saxes A bass with a bow The drummer relaxes And waits between shows For his cinnamon girl [Chorus] [Outro] Pa sent me money now I'm going to make it somehow I need another chance You see your baby loves to dance Yeah yeah yeah 37 "Cinnamon Girl" debuted on the 1969 album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, which was also Young's first album with backing band Crazy Horse. Released as a single the following year, it reached #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970. Like two other songs from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, "Cowgirl in the Sand" and "Down by the River", Young wrote "Cinnamon Girl" while he was suffering from the flu with a high fever at his home in Topanga, California. This song displays the very prominent role played by Danny Whitten in the sound of Young's early recordings. The vocals are a duet, with Whitten singing the high harmony against Young's low harmony. (The 45 rpm single mix of the song, in addition to being in mono and cutting off the guitar outro, features Whitten's vocal more prominently than the album version.) Young performed the song on his then-recently acquired Gibson Les Paul, "Old Black". The lyrics have the singer daydreaming for a girl to love, singing that he waits "between shows" for his lover.

  • Neil Young + Promise of the Real Confirmed for Tinderbox in Denmark
Neil Young + Promise of the Real 2019-03-13 10:00 CET Neil Young + Promise of the Real confirmed for Tinderbox in Denmark The Canadian legend will play his only Scandinavian show this summer in Odense and will be joined on the poster by seminal Danish act The Savage Rose It finally happened! After many months of hard work, the deal is finally in place with one of rock's biggest names – the legendary Neil Young. This is the rock icon's only show in Scandinavia on this tour, and for his first concert at Tinderbox Neil Young will be backed by his friends in Promise of the Real. From his time in Buffalo Springfield over the records with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the many high points that have been released since the late 60s, Neil Young has stood out as one of the most important voices in rock. He is a member of the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame both as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield, he has been involved in the founding of both Farm Aid and Bridge School concerts, and he has been nicknamed The Godfather of Grunge. An early highlight of Neil Young's career was the beautiful album "Harvest", which not only went to number one in the United States, but also became the best-selling album that year. The album is today considered to be one of the best releases of the 70’s, and 20 years later the album received a companion piece in the form of "Harvest Moon", which impressively is almost as highly regarded among reviewers and fans.

  • Cinnamon Girl – Neil Young
Cinnamon Girl – Neil Young Tuning: DADGBD (double drop d) Tempo: 104 bpm Strumming Pattern: The “strumming” here isn’t really a strumming pattern at all. Instead you are just loosely picking out the notes found in the chords. There is no “wrong” way to do this. I chose to barely strike them because this time I am using distortion. To be honest there is no “good” way for this to sound without some sort of distortion. At least that is my opinion. Riff 1: The part above is played three times before ending “Riff 1.” The ending of riff 1 is below: You’ll see that it is mostly the same thing, but to end this riff you simply don’t play the fifth fret note on the Low E (tuned to D). Instead, just let it ride out until you reach the verse. Riff 2: While this is a little confusing at first, I added the lyrics to give you an idea of how to play it. In the case of both riff 1 and riff 2 the note values are correct. The open notes in riff 2 are played during the “with a…” and then the third fret notes are played during the first part of “cinna…” while the fifth frets end the word with “…mon.” After that, you play the open part again and immediately go into the ending part of Riff 1 with the seventh fret notes as you did before. Then just continue the same “feel” of the first riff in the second riff with the walk from 3-2-0 on the A string, followed by the walk of 3 – 5 on the Low E string (tuned to D).

  • Corey's Top 10 2012 Concerts the Vagaries of Life, Work And, Perhaps Too Much of My Personal Creative Time on Other
Corey's Top 10 2012 Concerts The vagaries of life, work and, perhaps too much of my personal creative time on other “projects” including co-producing a mayoral forum and developing a new website for my fraternal order, the Knights of Pythias (in New York), set back my end of the year review of the best shows I took in during 2012. Last year, the only widely available music I acquired involved some fave artists – Al Kooper (Black Coffee and White Chocolate), Neil Young (Americana) and David Bowie (30th Anniversary edition of Ziggy Stardust). Richie Furay's “Live At The Canyon Club” remains a limited edition so not sure you can find a copy – you'll just have to hang with me (and yet it's on my iPhone). As last year, only one free show made the cut but the quality of those shows (including The Good Rats, Joan Jett, Poco, Dennis DeYoung of Styx/Lou Gramm of Foreigner/Bobby Kimball of Toto) compared favorably with ones the required a ticket and sometimes a cover as well. 1) It rained; it was not Woodstock (How could it be? The ground was blacktop.); fireworks last July 20 at MCU Park supplemented the blaring, precise power melodies of Squeeze. I've seen many a great Squeeze show, I've listened to many others I could not attend; even saw Difford and Tilbrook and Glen with his Fluffers. This one was special. And if the original term limits had held four years back, it probably would have meant no such shows at Coney Island.
