Summer Circus 2017: June 5th – July 20(7 weeks) Have you ever wanted to run away and join the circus? Well now you can! This is the place to be for children, ages 3 and up, to learn basic skills such as tumbling, unicycling, diabolo, aerial and so much more. Summer circus is designed for current participants to continue conditioning throughout the summer, as well as giving new participants an opportunity to experience multiple acts to inspire them for the upcoming season. Registration begins May 15, 2017. Classes are Tuesdays & Thursdays Time: Class: Max: Location: 4:30-5:15 Mini Acro (ages 3-4, Parent Participation) 16 Woody Tumble, Acro, Mini Trampoline and Balance Beam skills for preschoolers 4:30-5:25 Circus Essentials (ages 6+) 40 Coble Class will include Wire, Mini Trampoline, Tumbling and More. No experience necessary. 4:30-5:25 Unicycle (ages 6+) 30 Coble Whether learning to ride for the first time, or wanting to learn new tricks, this is a great class to improve balance and coordination on the one wheeled wonder. 5:30-6:15 Mini Acro (ages 4-5) 16 Woody Tumble, Acro, Mini Trampoline and Balance Beam skills for preschoolers 5:30-6:25 Beginning Aerial Combo (ages 6+) 20 Coble This class is perfect for the new aerialist – you will learn strength and coordination skills that will prepare you for the upcoming season. Equipment included will be on a rotating schedule. 5:30-6:25 Intermediate Aerial Combo (ages 10+) 20 Coble This class is designed for aerialists to continue skill development and strength conditioning. Equipment included will be on a rotating schedule. Must have previous aerial experience. 5:30-6:25 Stilts and Rolling Globe 15 Coble Learn to balance on stilts and walk the rolling globe. A class all about balance. No experience necessary. 6:30-7:25 Pyramid Acro 1 (ages 7+) 30 Coble Must be able to perform a forward roll, cartwheel and bridge with proper form, & has good start on R or L splits. 6:30-7:25 Pyramid Acro 2 (ages 9+) 30 Coble Must have previous Pyramid Acro experience. Must be able to perform a cartwheel and round-off with proper form. Must be able to perform Right or Left split. 6:30-7:25 Teeterboard (ages 7+) 20 Coble Basic teeterboard skills will be taught in this class. No experience necessary. 6:30-7:30 Advanced Aerial Combo (ages 15+) 20 Coble This class is designed for aerialists to progress advanced skill development and strength conditioning. Equipment included will be on a rotating schedule. Must have previous aerial experience. 6:30-7:30 Diabolo (ages 9+) 30 Woody AKA the “Chinese yo-yo”, you will learn skills to prepare you for the next season of Diabolo. All levels welcome! 7:30-8:30 Advanced Duo Cradle (ages 15+) 10 Coble A challenging act that requires strength and elegance. Fly high in this partner act. 2019 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS SESSION A: August 5-11 PERIOD 1: 10:00 - 10:55 AM Acting the Song - Denise Blase, 13+ In this class, songs will be approached from the position of an actor with the logic, intention, and emotion behind the music being analyzed and truthfully expressed. Bring a song you are working on or Denise will help you choose one. All styles welcome. Either accompany yourself or Denise will on the piano. Students will learn how to break down a song and connect to the piece through both the lyrics and the music. This is the perfect class for singers/actors who want to dig deep into bringing more expression and dynamic interpretation to their singing. Opportunity to work on solos, duets and/or small group numbers. Caz Horns - Jessica Jones, 12+ Come join the house horn section, available to perform with many different bands in camp, including the jazz, rock and gospel ensembles! We'll learn the music for each ensemble and will also rehearse with the rock band (and other ensembles as possible). Then we'll perform! Some experience on your instrument and basic reading ability necessary. Some riffing, some improv, some reading - we're the ones who make the music punch! The Prescott Clowns
The Prescott Clowns From Prescott Elementary School Oakland, California This energetic group of clowns is directed in an after school program by Aileen Moffitt, a second grade teacher, aka "Irma La Clown." These children receive training in circus skills from professionals, then dazzle everyone with their juggling, unicycle riding, and dancing. They give back to their community tenfold with workshops in classrooms and performances at many commu- nity events, nursing homes, and shelters -- besides a long list of school assemblies. "Wherever we perform -- from lavish banquet receptions to small neighborhood events -- it is our intention to dispel negative myths about the children of West Oakland. And we do!" During the week of February 4, hip hop dancer and choreographer Bosco will be returning for the second year to choreograph the Teeterboard 0200 spring show performance along with a fun scene for this summer's upcoming production. Also arriving that week will be flying trapeze expert Rob Dawson, who will attend all flying trapeze classes along with holding workshops the following week. Finally, during our session break in February, ESAC Brussels instructor Roman Fedin will be here running Hoops, Mexican Cloud Swing, Silks, Static, Swinging Trapeze, Triple Trapeze, and Spanish Web workshops for our intermediate-advanced level students. He has 20+ years’ experience as a performer and 18 years in program development and organizational leadership. He was co-founder and performer with Circus Bella (2008 – 2011), served on the Board of the American Youth Circus Organization, and now serves on the organization’s Social Circus Committee which supports social circus programs and teaching artists across the country. Zahra Mahloudji, Managing Director Zahra brings deep experience with non-profit performing arts organizations across production, administration, and fundraising. She has stage-managed and produced several plays with Darvag Theater and oversaw concert productions and fundraising as youth orchestra manager for the Oakland Symphony. While on sabbatical in Tanzania, she managed operations for the Dar Choral Society (Dar es Salaam), collaborating with the conductor to bring the first-ever full orchestra concert there. She has been with Prescott Circus Theatre since 2015. Leading Teaching Artists Ori Quesada, Lead Teaching Artist Ori Quesada was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and began training and performing at the age of 7 under Master Lu Yi and Xia Ke Min in traditional Chinese Acrobatics. He began specializing in Rola Bola Kick Bowls at the age of 16, and has performed with the San Francisco Circus, New Pickle Circus, Circus Finelli, Circus Chimera, Troupe Vertigo, Sweet Can, Circus Bella, the Santa Rosa Symphony, in the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, and with the Los Angeles Opera.

AKROSPHERE AERIAL & CIRCUS ARTS STUDIO POLICIES TUITION AND PAYMENT POLICIES RATES Summer Session: Tuition for one 1-hour class per week is a one-time payment for all of June AND July for all classes (excluding Tumbling, Circus Kids and Akronauts); these monthly tuitions include the 1-hour class each week PLUS unlimited coach supervised Open Gym for June and July. This means the students can have many more hours of apparatus time per week if they choose. Please note we DO NOT have classes the week of July 4th, so our Akro-Families can celebrate Independence Day with their loved ones. School Year Session: Tuition is paid monthly for one 1-hour class per week for all classes; these monthly tuitions include the 1-hour class each week PLUS unlimited coach supervised Open Gym for the entire month. This means the students can have many more hours of apparatus time per week if they choose. Circus Kids, Akronauts, and TeeterTots enjoy a discounted tuition fee in lieu of participating in open gym. Please note: Due to changes in our circus insurance policy, we are no longer able to offer our $10 discount for multi-class / multi-sibling. Thank you for your understanding.
