OFFICIAL BASEBALL OF BASEBALL CANADA ROMLCAN 65CC 80CC RUSSELL MARTIN ©Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation (NYSE: JAH) 1-800-RAWLINGS · RAWLINGS.COM Supporters, Sponsors and Family, As a staff we wanted to take a moment to reach out and say welcome to the Great Lake Canadians Family. We are proud of the many successes that we have achieved in our first two years of operation and look forward to continued success as we enter our third year. Our players have put our program on the map and established the Great Lake Canadians as one of the most prestigious baseball programs in the country. A leading highlight of this past year was seeing our first two players selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur player draft. Miles Gordon was selected in the 4th round by the Cincinnati Reds and Nick Hamilton was chosen in the 11th round by the Boston Red Sox. Along with these pro signings, sending all eighteen senior players from our first two graduating classes off on scholarships was an equally fulfilling highlight. Due to the increased popularity of the Great Lake Program and the talented players involved, we have chosen to expand and add a fourth and fifth team to our program for the 2016 season at the 14U and 16U levels. Our main strength as a program is that we have access to very knowledgeable staff members, all of whom have impressive credentials. The availability of these highly qualified coaches allows this expansion to occur. Even as we grow we will continue to focus on what we believe is the most important component of amateur sports which is player development.

Baseball Canada-Junior National Team (18U) Information About /Selection Process The Junior National Team is made up of some of the best high school aged (18 and under) baseball players in Canada. In 1999 the program moved to a ‘year-round’ format consisting of four annual trips and either a WBSC U18 World Cup or a COPABE 18U Pan American Championship / U18 World Cup qualifier. These two events occur in alternating years. Each year, the Junior National Team season begins with the Fall Instructional League program at ESPN Wide World of Sports (Orlando, Florida) in October. In March of the following year, the program resumes with Spring Training in St. Petersburg, Florida followed by Extended Spring Training in April at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando. In May, the team takes its annual trip to the Dominican Republic for a tour through the Dominican Summer League. Typically, each of these four trip last 10-14 days. Depending on the year, a summer trip can be added. The season concludes with a Final Selection Camp where 20 players are chosen to represent Canada at either the WBSC U18 World Cup or the COPABE 18U Pan American Championship / U18 World Cup Qualifier. Athlete selection process begins each year at the Baseball Canada Cup where players are identified and invited to October’s Fall Instructional League Camp. Players are also evaluated at certain events throughout the year including MLB Scouting Bureau Camps, Tournament 12 in Toronto and various tournaments across the country. *Age eligibility for the Junior National Team states that players must not be older than 18 years of age on December 31st of each calendar year.

The Boston Red Sox Wednesday, July 17, 2019 * The Boston Globe Andrew Cashner’s assessment of his Red Sox debut: ‘I didn’t think I was very sharp’ Nicole Yang Starting pitcher Andrew Cashner’s Red Sox debut Tuesday night didn’t go quite as well as he would have hoped. “I didn’t think I was very sharp,” Cashner said after Boston’s 10-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. “Didn’t really do a lot of things well.” Cashner, who was acquired via a trade with the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, struggled to settle into a groove against a familiar divisional foe. Trouble emerged in the first inning, when Jays leadoff hitter Eric Sogard capped a 10-pitch at-bat with a line-drive single to center field. Despite also giving up a triple, Cashner managed to escape the first unscathed. The blank scoreboard, however, didn’t last much longer, as the runs began to tally in the second. After striking out catcher Danny Jansen, Cashner walked first baseman Justin Smoak before shortstop Freddy Galvis singled to put two runners on.
