Famously nicknamed the 'Sunrise Peak', is the remnant of hydrovolcanic eruptions caused approximately five thousand years ago in the shallow regions of the Korea Strait surrounding Jeju Island. The eruptions led to the formation of a tuff cone giving the Seongsan Ilchulbong peak a castle-like design.
