Uefa Europa League UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - 2017/18 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS Stadion Rajko Mitić - Belgrade Tuesday 13 February 2018 18.00CET (18.00 local time) FK Crvena zvezda Round of 32, First leg PFC CSKA Moskva Match background 2 Legend 4 1 FK Crvena zvezda - PFC CSKA Moskva Tuesday 13 February 2018 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Rajko Mitić, Belgrade Match background Former European champions Crvena zvezda are making their first springtime appearance on the continental stage for 26 years, while opponents CSKA Moskva also have something to celebrate after avoiding a fifth successive bottom- place finish in the UEFA Champions League group stage. • The Belgrade club reached the UEFA Europa League round of 32 for the first time despite scoring just three goals in their group, which was won by Arsenal. Crvena zvezda's tally of nine points was matched in the UEFA Champions League by CSKA, but that placed the Russian side only third in their section behind Manchester United and Basel. Previous meetings • The two teams have never met in European competition. • Crvena zvezda have won two and lost two of their four two-legged European ties against Russian opponents. The most recent encounters took place this season, the Red and Whites overcoming FC Krasnodar on away goals in the play-offs (2-3 away, 2-1 home) to reach the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time. • CSKA have happy memories of their one previous tie against Serbian opponents as their 3-1 aggregate win over Crvena zvezda's Belgrade rivals Partizan in the round of 16 of the 2004/05 UEFA Cup contributed to the club's only continental trophy success. Form guide • Crvena zvezda have not conceded more than one goal in any of their last eight European home games (W5 D2 L1), shipping only four in that time. • The Belgrade side's tally of just three goals scored in the UEFA Europa League group stage was the fewest of any of the 24 qualified teams. However, their concession of just two goals was bettered by only one other qualifier – Salzburg (one). • This is Crvena zvezda's 15th UEFA fixture in 2017/18, making it the longest European campaign in the club's history. • CSKA have won four of their five European away fixtures this season, including 2-1 victories at Benfica and Basel in the UEFA Champions League group stage. • The Moscow side's last European knockout phase involvement was a UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie with Real Madrid in 2011/12, which they lost 5-2 on aggregate (1-1 home, 1-4 away). Their one and only appearance in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 came a year earlier as they defeated PAOK 2-1 on aggregate (1-0 away, 1-1 home) before bowing out in the round of 16 to FC Porto. • CSKA have won five of their last seven UEFA Europa League away games, including qualifying, losing only one. • Second in last season's Serbian Superliga, and UEFA Cup runners-up in 1978/79, Crvena zvezda last extended their European campaign into the spring in 1991/92, when they were the reigning European Champion Clubs' Cup holders. This is their 22nd continental adventure since then. • CSKA were runners-up to city rivals Spartak Moskva in last season's Russian Premier League. To reach the UEFA Champions League group stage they got through two qualifying rounds, defeating both AEK Athens and Young Boys 3-0 on aggregate. UEFA Europa League squad changes • Crvena zvezda In: El Fardou Ben Nabouhane, Stefan Hajdin Out: Filip Bainović, Ricardinho • CSKA Moskva In: Kristijan Bistrović, Ahmed Musa Out: none Links and trivia • Damien Le Tallec (Mordovia Saransk 2014–16), Mitchell Donald (Mordovia Saransk 2014–15), Branko Jovičić (Amkar 2014–17) and Dušan Andjelković (Rostov 2009–10, Krasnodar 2011–14) have all played in the Russian Premier League. • CSKA's Viktor Vasin spent 2014/15 at Mordovia Saransk alongside Le Tallec and Donald. • Russia defeated Serbia 1-0 in an August 2011 friendly. Igor Akinfeev, Aleksei Berezutski, Vasili Berezutski and Sergei Ignashevich all played for the hosts, Nenad Milijaš coming on as a substitute for the visitors. • Crvena zvezda are the only team to have made it all the way from the first qualifying round of this season's UEFA 2 FK Crvena zvezda - PFC CSKA Moskva Tuesday 13 February 2018 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Rajko Mitić, Belgrade Europa League to the knockout phase. • Crvena zvezda striker Richmond Boakye was the joint top scorer in UEFA Europa League qualifying this season with seven goals – level with Maksim Maksimov of Lithuanian club Trakai. • Crvena zvezda led the Serbian Superliga at the winter break with a nine-point advantage over eternal local rivals Partizan. • Suspended for next match if booked: Srdjan Babić, Vujadin Savić (Crvena zvezda); Aleksandr Golovin (CSKA). The coaches • Vladan Milojević returned to the club where he began his playing career when Crvena zvezda appointed him as their new head coach in June 2017. The former defender's stock was high at the time after he took Panionios into Greece's post-season play-offs. Two years previously, he had made a name for himself by leading unheralded Čukarički to their first major honour when they beat Partizan in the Serbian Cup final. • Appointed by CSKA to replace long-serving coach Leonid Slutski in December 2016, Viktor Goncharenko was only 39 at the time, but he had earned a growing reputation in Russian football, notably while serving as Slutski's assistant. He made his name as a coach in his native Belarus at BATE Borisov, winning five straight titles and leading the club into the UEFA Champions League group stage on three occasions. 3 FK Crvena zvezda - PFC CSKA Moskva Tuesday 13 February 2018 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Rajko Mitić, Belgrade Legend Competitions Club competitions National team competitions UCL: UEFA Champions League EURO: UEFA European Football Championship ECCC: European Champion Clubs' Cup WC: FIFA World Cup UEL: UEFA Europa League CONFCUP: FIFA Confederations Cup UCUP: UEFA Cup FRIE: Friendly internationals UCWC: UEFA Cup Winners' Cup U21FRIE: Under-21 friendly internationals SCUP: UEFA Super Cup U21: UEFA European Under-21 Championship UIC: UEFA Intertoto Cup U17: UEFA Under-17 Championship ICF: Inter-Cities Fairs Cup U16: UEFA European Under-16 Championship U19: UEFA Under-19 Championship U18: UEFA European Under-18 Championship WWC: FIFA Women's World Cup WEURO: UEFA European Women's Championship Competition stages Other abbreviations F: Final GS: Group stage (aet): After extra time pens: Penalties GS1: First group stage GS2: Second group stage No.: Number og: Own goal 3QR: Third qualifying round R1: First round ag: Match decided on away P: Penalty R2: Second round R3: Third round goals agg: Aggregate R4: Fourth round PR: Preliminary round Pld: Matches played AP: Appearances SF: Semi-finals QF: Quarter-finals Pos.: Position Comp.: Competition R16: round of 16 QR: Qualifying round Pts: Points D: Drawn R32: Round of 32 1QR: First qualifying round R: Sent off (straight red card) DoB: Date of birth 1st: first leg 2QR: Second qualifying Res.: Result ET: Extra Time round sg: Match decided by silver GA: Goals against 2nd: second leg FT: Final tournament goal t: Match decided by toss of a PO: Play-off ELITE: Elite round coin Rep: Replay 3rdPO: Third-place play-off GF: Goals for W: Won PO - FT: Play-off for Final GS-FT: Group stage – final gg: Match decided by golden Y: Booked Tournament tournament goal L: Lost Y/R: Sent off (two yellow Nat.: Nationality cards) N/A: Not applicable f: Match forfeited Statistics -: Denotes player substituted +: Denotes player introduced *: Denotes player sent off +/-: Denotes player introduced and substituted Squad list D: Disciplinary *: Misses next match if booked S: Suspended QUAL: All UEFA qualifiers UEL: Current season total UEFA Europa League appearances from the group stage onwards prior to the current matchday UEL: Total appearances in the UEFA Europa League, group stage to final only UEFA: All-time total appearances in UEFA club competition including qualifying Disclaimer: Although UEFA has taken all reasonable care that the information contained within this document is accurate at the time of publication, no representation or guarantee (including liability towards third parties), expressed or implied, is made as to its accuracy, reliability or completeness. UNDER-21 CHAMPIONSHIP - 2013/15 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS Stadion Letná - Prague Wednesday 17 June 2015 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Germany Group A - Matchday 1 Serbia Last updated 30/06/2015 09:23CET UEFA UNDER 21 OFFICIAL SPONSORS Match background 2 Legend 4 1 Germany - Serbia Wednesday 17 June 2015 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Stadion Letná, Prague Match background Germany won the last time they faced Serbia on the opening day of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and while they will hope of a repeat, they will be eager to avoid what followed. Previous meetings • Group A rivals Germany and Serbia have met only once in this competition, qualifying included: in the opening game of the 2006 final tournament. A 61st-minute goal from Eugen Polanski earned Germany a 1-0 win against what was then Serbia and Montenegro. • The teams at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos on 23 May 2006 were: Serbia and Montenegro: Stojković, Ivanović, Stepanov, Biševac, Lomić, Basta, Krasić, Milovanović (Milijaš 68), Vukčević (Todorović 77), Janković (Purović 65), Vučinić. Germany: Rensing, Volz, Sinkiewicz, Matip, Fathi, Lehmann, Polanski (Castro 68), Schulz, Hilbert (Brzenska 90+2), Kiessling, Nando Rafael (Eigler 77). • The result was a false omen: Germany did not pick up another point and bowed out at the end of the group stage after finishing in a three-way tie for second behind France. Serbia and Montenegro went through on goal difference but lost 5-4 on penalties to Ukraine in the last four after a goalless 120 minutes. Match background • Germany have only gone beyond the last eight twice in nine previous final tournament appearances, in 1982 and 2009, meeting England in the final on each occasion.

  • UEFA Research Grant Programme 2011/12
UEFA Research Grant Programme 2011/12 Researcher: John Hughson, Professor of Sport and Cultural Studies, Director of the International Football Institute, University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK Project: Football Supporter Culture in Serbia: Considering an anti-violent future 1 This final report is presented to UEFA as a position paper on the future directions for the football supporter culture in Serbia. The proposals with which the report concludes are admittedly ambitious, but not, in the opinion of the author, unrealistic. The proposed recommendations are achievable, depending on the commitment of relevant organisations. The author remains at the disposal of UEFA and the key organisations in Serbia for further advice and input towards the pursuit of positive directions in Serbia’s football supporting culture. The research undertaken for this report has informed academic outputs that are presently in preparation for submission to refereed academic journals. These intended publications and a related larger, on-going, project on ‘positive futures’ for Serbian sport are outlined in the concluding section of this report. Background The key intention of the project is to contribute to the larger plan – actively pursued by UEFA – to eradicate violent conduct from football supporting in Europe. Although much has been accomplished since the darker years of the 1980s, hooligan type activity remains a problem and, understandably enough, UEFA has acknowledged its role as an organisation with responsibility toward the resolution of this problem. The answers are not simple and any attempt to present facile and easy solutions would rightly be dismissed by anyone with knowledge of football associated violence – right through from senior administrators in the sport, to the police, the media and the majority of violence 2 abhorring football fans.
