This coastal town initially came to notice with the construction of Halcyon Castle by the last Maharani of Travancore - Sethu Lakshmi Bayi. With the arrival of hippies in 1970s, the place gained recognition as a tourist destination and is today renowned for its 17 km-long coastline, which is formed by three beautiful beaches - Lighthouse, Hawah and Samudra. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Kovalam. Day 02 Sightseeing Tour After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing of Trivandrum, covering Napier Museum, Art Gallery and Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Return to Kovalam for overnight stay. Day 03 Kovalam – Mararikulam (175 kms / approx. 4.5 hour) After breakfast, drive to Mararikulam. Mararikulam is one of the best beaches in Kerala offering idyllic beach stay experience. Marari is a very relaxing beach retreat stays. Beaches are good for swimming and very private. Arrive and check-in to your hotel. Rest of the day leisure at the hotel. Overnight in Mararikulam. Day 04 Marari - Alleppey (30 kms / approx. 1 hour) Proceed to Alleppey by road after breakfast. After arrival, check-in at the houseboat in backwaters of Kerala. Alleppey is a charming emerald peninsula jutting into the picturesque Vembanad Lake dotted with innumerable traditional country rafts, boats and canoes. The fresh water of the lake flows into the mainland, making a labyrinth of lagoons, canals and waterways. Spend the rest of the day cruising through beautiful backwaters. Four variables have been considered for evaluating the quality of life of the stakeholders of ecotourism sites, which is then funneled to the income-education spectrum for hypothesizing into the SLI framework. Zone-wise analysis of the community members working in tourism sector shows that the community members have benefited totally from tourism development in the region as they have got both employments as well as secured livelihood options. Most of the quality of life-indicators of the community in the eco-tourist centres show a promising position. The community perception does not show any negative impact on environment as well as on their local culture. It includes leisure and recreationally oriented activities in the off sea shore areas. Tourists visiting Kerala is attracted by both natural and artificial technologies for enjoying the beaches. The availability of basic amenity can influence the tourist arrival up to an extent. The dissatisfaction once created among tourist will limit their re-visit to such places. By providing maximum satisfaction and enjoyment with adequate requirement will become a good mark in minds.
