The School is one of seven in Australia founded by members of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly referred to as the Loreto Sisters. The total enrolment in 2018 at the August census was 1098.3 with 247 students in Kindergarten-Year 6 and 851.3 in Years 7-12, with one student undertaking studies part-time. This number is indicative of annual enrolment patterns. The School’s underlying philosophy is based on the following five values: Freedom, Justice, Sincerity, Verity and Felicity. The information contained in this report has been compiled for submission to the NSW Education Standards Authority to comply with legislative requirements for the continuing Registration and Accreditation of Loreto Kirribilli as a School in NSW. As well as its heritage, one of the greatest strengths of Loreto Kirribilli is its staff, a group of dedicated and hard-working teachers and support staff whose aim is to provide an excellent education and nurturing environment for our students. 6 LORETO KIRRIBILLI 2018 ANNUAL REPORT pRInCIpaL’s mEssagE 2018 marked the 110th anniversary of Loreto Kirribilli. This provided our community with the opportunity to celebrate all that we love about our School, to challenge elements of practice that needed reform and to acknowledge the importance of preparing our students for the evolving world beyond School, equipping our girls to adapt and thrive within a completely reimagined future. Over the course of the year, we celebrated the heroes of our past who established our School from its humble beginnings. We also explored new ways of celebrating the achievements of our students. 2018 saw our students striving to succeed and grow in the vast array of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. I was delighted that our annual Awards Ceremony, held at the International Convention Centre for the first time and attended by so many parents and family members, was a wonderful showcase of student talent, application and achievement. I was equally delighted to present, for the first time, the Principal’s Award for Learning Growth. It has become increasingly evident in our focus on what boosts our students’ learning, that Schools must focus on stretching individual students to their maximum capacity. Our focus on a growth mindset, tracking student achievement data and providing coaching for each student strongly aligns with this belief. The Principal’s Award for Learning Growth recognised the significant gains that particular individuals have achieved and that I trust all our students have experienced in some form. As we know, so much learning happens both beyond as well as within the classroom. Over the last few years, we have also developed a distinctive approach to learning and teaching which we believe will prepare our girls for the future. We are very committed to developing the skills of creativity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration. In addition to these skills, it is vital that young people have a capacity to adapt and innovate. Our Innovation Centre, which we hope to commence building midway through Term 4 2019, incorporates a range of dynamic and versatile learning spaces and studios, designed to enhance cross-curricular learning, further foster creative and critical thinking and inspire an entrepreneurial mindset. The flexible design of the open collaboration spaces will engage students K-12 across all learning domains. It will also provide important connections expanding the use of the Marian Centre, Centenary Hall and Gymnasium. Our 110th Anniversary year has also inspired a new initiative, the LK Connect Mentoring and Networking program. This program is aimed at supporting and helping guide our Loreto students for life after ‘aIm aT School. This mentoring program will assist tertiary graduates as they sOmEThIng emerge into the workforce. We are very excited about the potential of ExCELLEnT; this new initiative to commence in 2019, harnessing the strength of OuR LIfE our Loreto alumni.     Transcript of the Principal’s Message – 21 May 2021 Good afternoon to all members of the Loreto Normanhurst community, it's wonderful to be with you again today and for this newsletter to be reaching you. The cooler mornings, but these gloriously sunny days. And hopefully the sunshine is reaching you and your families as well. I'm here today, just outside our beautiful boarding school, to mark the fact that we're finishing up National Boarding Week. And in fact, today, Friday, the focus across Australia is to acknowledge and to recognise all staff who work in boarding schools across Australia. And so I'd like to start by thanking the remarkable people who work at Loreto Normanhurst, in the boarding capacity, and all of our partners who partner with us to enable our offering of boarding here at the school. So thank you to the staff who care for our boarders daily, nightly, and across every day of the week. It's been a wonderful way of celebrating who we are as a school community, by having that focus on National Boarding Week this week. We had Behind the Boarders at assembly, and hearing a little bit more about our boarders and where they come from. We've had skipping, we've had fun runs. We've had lots of things going on. And I, myself, have just returned from the first of the Principal's Country Road Trips, having spent four days in Central West and north western New South Wales, visiting our families, catching up with ex-students and past parents, and talking to a couple of families who are looking to have their girls come to Loreto Normanhurst in the next few years.

Brown, Ph.D. Department of Education, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists ·t. 6840 Eastern Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20012 i/ .I Foreword In anticipation of the education centennial in 1972 and the publication of a Seventh-day Adventist chronology of education, the General Conference Department of Education started to make inquiries of the world field for historical facts and statistics regarding the various facets of the church program in education. The information started to come in about a year ago. Whlle some of the responses were quite detalled, there were others that were rather general and indefinite. There were gaps and omissions and in several instances conflicting statements on certain events. In view of the limited time and the apparent cessation of incoming materials from the field, a small committee was named with Doctor Walton J. Brown as chairman. It was this committee's responsibility to execute the project in spite of the lack of substantiation of certain information. We believe that this is the first project of its kind in the denomination's history. It is hoped that when the various educators and administrators re­ view the data about their own organizations, they will notify the Department of Education concerning any corrections and additions. They should please include supporting evidence from as many sources as possible. It is hoped that within the next five to ten years a revised edition may replace this first one. It would contain not only necessary changes, but also would be brought up to date.

Sr Chris Burke From the Provincial Reflections on Timor Leste For one not used to traveling to areas with traveler alerts attached to them, going into Timor Leste in the last month was a sobering experience. I had been to Dili and Baucau in May 2005, and while the results of the earlier crisis were all too obvious, one could allow oneself the hope that the future would be brighter. Not this time. On arrival the army tents, the refugee camps in the airport, religious houses, and church grounds all look set in for the long haul.
